{Travel} 2016 A Year To Cruise

Travel 2016 is the code for next year, life was not meant to be lived in one place rather travel as often and as far as you can go.travel quote
When 2014 started, it was a year that almost broke me in two. I did not see it coming neither was I expecting it to be the way it was but it was how it was. Every now and again, I sit back and reflect on how it all started and how it all ended and realised how blessed I am and just how short life is. I made a decision and a promise to myself in 2014 that I am still feeling the effects of today and that was/is to travel as much as I can whilst I am still young because experience is always the best teacher.

For the first time ever in my life, I woke up one day and made a decision to go visit my country of birth Zambia. I did not care how much money I had, all I knew is it was something I needed to do and I did it. I was scared out of my mind, it had been over 10 years since we left. I knew nothing anymore and nothing was as it was when I was a kid. I persevered, I discovered things about myself that I did not know, I learnt about myself and how far I could go. It was one experience that I am very happy to have experienced, since then I have been on a mission to go everywhere I can.

2015 Travel

2015 has been a year that I have experienced so many wonderful travels, I have been to Seoul; South Korea (twice), I have been to Amsterdam; The Netherlands, Munich; Germany, Brussels; Belgium, Kaunas; Lithuania driven through 5 countries (France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland and finally Lithuania), New Jersey and New York; USA and also to Aberystwyth Wales. All of these travels I have done either by plane or on the road. I can not tell you how happy I have been travelling to all these places, I feel like I have accomplished something that was only a dream at one point and now it’s a reality.

2016 will soon be rolling in and I have been thinking of where I want to travel to and how I will be getting to these places. Lately I have been thinking about going on a cruise, but every time I mention it I am greeted with the how old are you? question I did not think it mattered how old you are when it comes to going on a cruises. I have never been on a cruise ship before and it has always been a dream of mine to do it at least once. I have done quite a bit of research and because I am not sure how I would fair on a cruise been thinking about taking short trips to start with like 2 or 4 night European cruise and if all goes well I can do something like a 12/14 night cruise to the Caribbean. Now how does one go about finding what cruise would work best for them, I was recommended to visit the Bolsover cruise club as a starting point. I have been browsing their site as part of my research for a week now and I am absolutely loving some of the awesome deals they currently have ongoing. They have cruises to all the popular destinations like Norwegian Fjords, Transatlantic cruises, canary islands and even Mediterranean cruises. I was very pleased to see that one of the most recommended cruise lines on this side of the pond P&O cruises is also one that Bolsover cruise club covers which is truly happy days for me.

travel quote

For me travelling has become such an integral part of my life that it seems strange not to go somewhere every few weeks. Travelling does not need to be expensive, you can be a tourist in your own town or the neighbouring town. You can plan for the big travels well in advance or be spontaneous and travel abroad for the weekend.

  • I wish that we could travel more. There are so many places I want to visit – Paris, New York, Prague and Krakow to name just a few. It’s not possible at the moment though as my daughter has just started secondary school and they are very keen for them to attend every single day and not take any holidays!

  • WOW- it is amazing how much you get to travel. We really only travel to see family. I would love to travel with my husband someday. Thanks for posting your awesome visits!

  • Ooh I love this! I have a couple big trips planned for next year : )

  • We did not do very much traveling in 2015 but we have plans to get in at least a few bigger trips in 2016!

  • Wow you have traveled to so many different places. That’s crazy. I would love to do that. There’s still a lot of places I’d love to see. Not realistic with 2 children unfortunately but I’m going to new York again early next year with my best friend for a getaway. Can’t wait.

  • Traveling is one of the best things you can do in life. It really opens you up to new experiences and frame of mind.

    • Couldn’t have written better myself, thanks Onica

  • I LOVE to travel too. In fact, I’m going to see Palm Springs for the first time, in early December – I’m so excited. Then I’m flying home for Christmas back in Canada.

    • oh wow, sounds like you will be having some fun before the year ends. I have couple places am visiting too this December

  • I used to travel a lot before I got married. I visited at least 2 countries per year. I have 2 kids now, can’t go anywhere for too long and kinda expensive to travel for family of 4

    • I agree it is expensive to travel as a family, hence why I am making sure I travel now before kids and if possible once I do have kids will travel after saving up

  • It looks like you had some amazing travel experiences last year! I’m hoping to travel more in 2016 as well.

    • Yes I have had, thank you.

  • I love traveling even if it’s just in nearby places. For next year, I want to map out some places that I want to go.

    • Me too, next year’s plan sounds like a great idea

  • Wow I thnk you have travelled more in 2015 than I have ever travelled, which makes me feel really bad but I am hugely impressed and jealous of you x

  • I always say that I would never “go travelling”, but I love to travel, if that makes sense. I really enjoyed reading this, you’re a wanderer like me 🙂

    • Totally makes sense, I love traveling but not the dropping everything and going to explore the world

  • You did have a lot of travels this year including your birth country. Good luck on your planned 2016 cruise.

    • Thanks Franc, hoping to do more next year.

  • Miles L.

What a great experience you got there! You are really privileged to go in different places. 🙂

  • It’s always exciting to think about where to go next. I can’t wait to hear what you’ll decide and if it will be a cruise or not.

    • Thanks Liz, its definitely exciting times.

  • Wow you have had such a busy and exciting 2015, I hope 2016 is just as fabulous x

    • Thank you so much Candice, it was an emotional time and one I am glad I took.

  • I love travelling and I’ve been so unwell in the past weeks and months ive not done much but i cant wait to get out on a plane or boat once more!

    • Aww bless, get well soon and hope you get to travel as well

  • ali

its one of my regrets that I didn’t travel more pre kids but i still have plans for the future

    • I hope for the future has many travel plans for you

  • I love to travel but it becomes a lot more difficult to organise and fund when you throw two small people in to the mix! x

    • It can be really difficult to travel with children, hence my desire to do more now before I have any

  • While agree that traveling enriches our lives and we should do it while we can, like you said while your young, it is expensive you can’t deny that. I wanted to see if I could visit my foster parents in Texas and found that one ticket was $215, well times that by four to bring my family, add all the fees they tack on that’s about a grand just to get there…not counting hotel and eating. So I don’t know if there’s some top secret way to get cheap air fair cheaper, but I’ve checked several sights and can’t figure out how all four of us could travel for under $500…it’s harder for some than it is for others.

    • It definitely is hard for some, I can not even imagine.

  • I love to travel. I only wish I had more time and money to do it more often. It makes me so happy!

    • It makes me happy too, I think for me more time than the money as even locally I want to travel

  • I am totally with you, I need to travel! It is fulfilling!

  • I’m excited for you and your traveling adventures. I look forward to reading your experiences and viewing your photos. Due to health reasons, traveling isn’t something I can do without an excruciating amount of pain so I’m going to travel through your eyes :).

    • Awww bless, so sorry to hear that. I will try my very best to travel on your behalf too 🙂

  • I really would love the travel more. A cruise sounds like a lovely idea and something I would consider if the future

    • I want to travel more too next year and include a cruise if possible

  • Wish I can travel outside the Philippines, but with my disease I can’t travel anymore. Wish to check on your blog to see more of your travels and experiences.

    • I am sorry to hear that, it must be hard but thanks for sharing.

  • I love travelling! I’ve also been to Germany and Belgium, been to Paris, Ireland, Greece and Wales too. Next stop for me will definitely be New York.

    • I am yet to visit Paris and Ireland and they are both on my list.
