Honeymoon Destination: Thailand

When I think of my future wedding (hint hint me dude) I don’t think much about the day itself, obviously it is (will be) a special day definitely but thinking about it makes me all sweaty & anxious that I don’t even want to focus on it. Instead I focus my energy on the one place I can not wait to reach: the honeymoon destination.

With the rise in travel bloggers and writers as well as the ever advancing technology at our finger tips, we are not in short supply of ideas of where you can honeymoon. I used to have Hawaii as first choice then in second/third places was Seychelles and Bali but as of late I have been thinking Thailand. I have a lot of friends who’ve been and from their pictures and their stories I have been filled with many tales of beautiful beaches, secluded resorts and overall wonderful weather.

I figured since Thailand is what I am currently loving, why not ask the one person (my brother-in-law) who I know has been more than once to help me write this post. The places have heard of from other person include: Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, Hua Hin and Koh Samui. Which all offer anything from hidden and secluded to the most popular resorts in the country. Read more on these destinations HERE.

so over to my brother-in-law

Honeymoon Destination: Thailand

Worried about your honeymoon being ruined by horrible and unpredictable weather? Why not to consider having your honeymoon in Thailand? With tropical weather, sandy beaches and only a few days of rain throughout the months of December to May,  Thailand might be the ideal destination for newlywed couples that are looking for that unforgettable honeymoon.

No wonder Thailand is known as a ‘Land of Smiles’ since you are greeted with smile on the face everywhere you go adding this to a very pleasant experience for the honeymoon.

Most importantly it won’t break your bank as Thailand is very well-known for low food, transportation and accommodation prices. However, that of course depends on your needs and how luxury you want your honeymoon to be. In general most of the resorts offer very competitive prices and usually a 5 star service.

If sun, picture perfect beaches and a bit of privacy is what you are considering for your honeymoon then heading south of Thailand might be the best choice. With an hour’s flight from Bangkok and a short ferry trip Phi Phi Island might offer just that – white sands, clear waters of Andaman Sea and azure sky. However, the island gets pretty crowded as everyone wants to visit that very well know beach from the movie ‘Beach’ with Leonardo di Caprio. Though with quite large range of resorts everyone should be able to find what suits them best.

However, if you don’t mind travelling a bit further south then Koh Lipe might be the ideal destination for the honeymoon. An hour’s flight from Bangkok to Hat Yai airport and a further 2 hour trip with the bus to the Pakbara pier will require a speedboat to take you to the pristine island of Koh Lipe. Situated right next to the Malaysian border and being part of Tarutao National Park it offers that serene atmosphere that newlyweds are usually looking for -white sand beaches, jungled hills and protected coral reefs surrounding the island. Being an island that 10 years ago no one even knew about it offers still pretty untouched, not very touristy break from the rest of the world just for 2 of you. You won’t find fancy hotels, shopping centers here but instead you’ll get your own private bungalow which is what all the resorts are offering with some of them being right on the white sand beaches and a local market street where you can try all the best of Thai food.

Thailand is the most beautiful country and an amazing honeymoon destination. You get to see different cultures, great shopping experience, and charming beaches. I also like Bali island; however, Thailand is more affordable

    • May 24, 2016 / 9:40 am

I agree, Bali is beautiful too but Thailand is more affordable and can match Bali on beauty

    • May 24, 2016 / 12:54 pm

Thailand is a great place to spend your honeymoon, it’s going to be a very good bonding experience especially when you tour around the country. They have so much to offer and the beaches are always romantic.

    • May 24, 2016 / 3:41 am

Absolutely why I am loving it even more

  30. May 24, 2016 / 1:33 am

Thailand sounds like such an amazing place. A private bungalow by the beach would be really nice!

    • May 24, 2016 / 3:41 am

I know right, exactly what I would love

  31. May 24, 2016 / 12:50 am

I love Thai cuisine so it would be amazing to be able to enjoy authentic food from the region. I’m not really a beach person, so for me an ideal honeymoon destination would involve a mix of relaxation and exploring the area.

    • May 24, 2016 / 3:41 am

And I think Thailand can still offer that in abundance

  32. May 24, 2016 / 12:23 am

We are going next year (not for a honeymoon mind haha) and I am so excited. I’ve heard some really incredible things about Thailand and we are so excited to experience it for ourselves.

    • May 24, 2016 / 3:40 am

I am so jealous honeymoon or otherwise I would love to go too

  33. May 23, 2016 / 11:52 pm

I love Thailand. Thailand is a place of mountains, plains, beaches and islands. Every region of Thailand offers gorgeous vistas of immense rice paddies, tropical forests and jungles, or world-class beaches and resorts. Plateaus to the northeast hide and shelter ancient archaeological treasures and historical landmarks.

    • May 24, 2016 / 3:40 am

Thailand definitely does offer that and more. I would love to go and explore it myself one day

  34. May 23, 2016 / 11:21 pm

For me Thailand is more a place to explore and travel around in and in my mind I’d want a relaxing honeymoon in a resort somewhere, but Thailand has been on my to visit list for ages x

    • May 23, 2016 / 11:32 pm

I thought that too but with the white sandy beaches, exploring can wait

    • May 23, 2016 / 11:32 pm

You and me both but hope to go soon if not for a honeymoon

  35. May 23, 2016 / 9:14 pm

I love Thailand. I’ve been many times and I’d happily go loads more. The people are so lovely, the culture is fabulous and the food is just the nuts. Not to mention their beaches and sights. It’s just got everything. x

    • May 23, 2016 / 9:19 pm

I am so jealous and would love to visit one day

  36. May 23, 2016 / 9:09 pm

Thailand is amazing and if you go for your honeymoon then check out the Best Island in Thailand for your Honeymoon. The white sandy beaches the crystal blue waters and that in the Land of Smile, any idea where to stay? Cheap or go all the way for a luxury resort on Koh Chang or Koh Lanta? Thailand is indeed an amazing place to come back every time you can.

    • May 23, 2016 / 2:37 pm

      Thanks Fedor

  43. May 23, 2016 / 11:55 am

I love the beautiful beaches! The water looks so serene and indeed a perfect honeymoon destination. Maybe when we celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, we’d consider visiting Thailand.
