{Guest Post} How to achieve the perfect summer skin care regime

The British summer is well and truly underway, we’ve had the extremes of temperatures and now the cold is back. I have mentioned before, we Brits are never complacent when it comes to the weather it’s unpredictable. The best course of action is to be prepared for all eventualities but we all know that’s not always possible. Earlier in the year I shared the benefits of oily skin, I love my oily skin but it’s an enemy in the summer. Excreting oils helps prevent wrinkles but no one wants to look like a greasy monkey.

The majority of us have some sort of skincare routine which we follow throughout the year. Some of us switch routines as the weather changes and others don’t which can be good or bad for you. As someone who has two skincare routines which I practice religiously I know the value in trying newer products. I have elicited the help of a fellow blogger {Jenny} to share some of her skin care secrets with us.

Perfect summer regime

Take it away Jenny

We’re now steadily getting into the peak of summer and I thought I (Jenny, from Krystel Couture.com) would share my best tips and advice to achieve the perfect summer skin care regime to achieve dewy, healthy skin. Skin care regimes are a fundamental upkeep requirement; to keep your skin in the best form and glowing from the inside out.

How to achieve the perfect summer skin care regime

To achieving that natural dewy glow would be to introduce Vitamin C or Ginseng packed products into your skincare regime. These ingredients work in perfect harmony with all skin types, even oily like mine!. These products help boost vitality and brightness back into the skin and remove any dullness or tiredness. Lack of sleep, stress and even environmental changes can cause your skin to become dull or tired looking.  The best advice I can give for protecting your skin during the summer months would be to buy products with high to moderate SPF. This is to prevent damage and keep the skin hydrated even with make-up on.

Perfect summer regime

Vitamin C and SPF

My favourite brand at the minute is Perricone MD ,packed full of natural ingredients to boost the skin. Giving the appearance of a natural, healthy glow without the need of much make-up and their products have high SPF. You can’t go wrong with an SPF lip-balm and foundation to keep the skin protected  throughout the day.

Cooling mists are another great concept to keep you cool on warmer days and help set your makeup to prevent it melting. Right now favourite product is Ole Henricksen Vitamin C pick me up tonic which helps set my makeup. Other properties include inducing moisture and vitamins to the skin. Also contains skin glowing antioxidants and works to repair the skin, whilst leaving it dewy.

Perfect summer regime

When it comes to your summer skincare regime it’s best to strip back on the amount of skincare and makeup. It is best to stick to a more minimal base products and simple regime. Keep makeup light and opt for mineral based formulas or light-weight liquids, giving that natural finish to the skin. Switch from thick, heavy moisturisers to light-weight gel based formulas or oils that melt into the skin.

Skin Exfoliants are another essential part to achieving healthy summer skin as they slough away dead skin cells. And they make your skin glow inside out, I mean who wouldn’t wanna glow from within. This also makes for the perfect base for fake tans or natural tan as it smooths the skin and leaves it soft and glowing.

I hope these tips have helped you, share any other tips you have and leave them below in the comments!

xo, Jenny

I’ve always used spa products but Vit c is a relatively new product ingredient but it’s something I cannot do with out and it’s totally transformed my skin.

SPF is such an important part of my routine, it’s so annoying, but I know it will be worth it in the future! xxx

I am so bad and don’t really use SPF on my face, something I need to get into the habit of doing x

High SPF is a must. All to easy to spend hours out in the sun, without realising just how much damage can be being done. I find my skin acts totally different in summer, and needs different kind of care. I tend to need more exfoliating, and more moisture.

The first time I tried a mist I was hooked they are great for setting make up. I always use a high SPF in both my face cream and lip balm.

SPF is beyond important! A lot of people forget about it when it’s not warm outside, so this is a lovely reminder that we should use more products with SPF in! Recently my skin has been super oily and it’s started to cause sore nasty spots. I’ll definitely have to check some of these out! 🙂
