Traveling abroad with aging parents can be one of the most stressful and rewarding experiences. I realised this year that my poor parents are not getting any younger and haven’t seen the world. Practically every month I travel abroad its an incredible experience which I want my parents to experience too. They have given up so much for my siblings and I that I felt it’s time I paid them back. Well at least in part as I don’t think I have even scratched the surface of what they gave up. One thing I knew about traveling abroad with aging parents is I needed to make some preparations. As my parents have gotten older, they have become slower and take a lot more time to do things. Therefore when I decided that 2018 was the year they saw the world, I need to plan ahead. If you’re ever planning to…

Welcome to the Fashion Favourites March 2018 edition, a monthly roundup of all the outfit ideas I have shared in February. Third installment of the monthly roundup for 2018 but 29th since I started the series back in December 2015. The Fashion Favourites series is one of the longest running series only superseded by the Monday Fashion posts. I have been running these series including the monthly goals for almost 4 years now and loving it. Blogging requires consistency and to be honest these series have helped with my consistency. The month of March was another busy one due to all the travels, work deadlines and university assignments. I am happy to report I conquered it all like a champion so much that OH calls me ‘impressive woman‘. Obviously that boosted my already high self-love and ego, it’s still nice to be recognized. It was an incredible buy month but I am glad I managed to…

Spring is a time to re-start, rejuvenate and rebirth filled with flowers that signal the change in season. The Spring Fashion Wishlist contains items that the men in my life are currently loving. We are all excited for the season to actually begin and they can rock out these items. It is meant to be Spring right now! Unfortunately Spring has been quite evasive that putting together a Spring Fashion Wishlist seems silly. But I am not someone who lets things I can’t control dampen my mood, especially where Fashion is concerned. As a summer baby I often gravitate towards clothing that is suitable for that season. The men in my life are similar in that, they too have more summer clothing than any other season. As we prepare for Spring, here are some of the items the men are loving. Spring Fashion Wishlist Let’s pretend for a moment that…

What do you pack when you’re off on a Spring city break? What are your go to items that you swear by? I know many would be asking what Spring am I referring too better yet why bother with a Spring city break? I mean seriously why bother with a Spring city break when most of Europe is snow-covered? Officially we are in Spring now but looking outside you wouldn’t think so, it’s more winter like than Spring. Over the weekend I escaped to Athens Greece with my Spring City Break Capsule, Spring Essentials only. It’s always nice to escape the cold and experience a bit of sunshine and get a dose of Vitamin D. I was very fortunate to have temperatures of 17-20 degrees where as we’ve been seeing minus numbers in UK. During my Spring city break to Athens, a bucketlist city, I stayed at Faros 1 hotel in…

Traveling across Europe always gives me such a buzz so much that the dude thinks I am obsessed (FYI – I am). Europe has some of the best castles in the world and Vianden Castle in Luxembourg is one of them. During my recent visit to Luxembourg I met some incredible people who let me tag along on their planned itinerary. Visiting Vianden Castle wasn’t on my radar but when I learnt about it I knew I had to visit. Vianden Castle is located in the Northern region of Luxembourg and was built between the 11-14th century. It is one of the largest and finest feudal residences of the Roman and Gothic eras in Europe. From its inception a lot of work has been done to it with multitude of additions. Today it is open to the public and is definitely a must visit castle in Luxembourg. Not only does…

Valentine’s Day may be long gone, but that’s no reason to let the romance in your relationship slip. You don’t have to spend hours preparing the perfect romantic evening for you and your partner, either. I’ve found plenty of recipes that are quick and easy to prepare, but still show that someone special just how much you love them. Here’s one of my favourite romantic meals for two that takes less than 30 minutes to cook and is a delicious classic – steak and chips. Ingredients For this dish you’ll need 2 x 200g/8oz of sirloin steak, sunflower oil (for frying), chips, rocket and parmesan (for the salad), and for the butter sauce 50g of softened butter, a small handful of chopped parsley leaves, 1 small garlic glove (minced) a squeeze of lemon juice and cracked black pepper. Preparation First mash the butter sauce ingredients together, wrap in cling film,…

Breakfast is an important meal of the day and Cafe Yolk in Reading knows how to cater to your needs. An award winning cafe in East Reading, they offer up an amazing menu that has many a person queuing up. Hiding in a residential area, this little well known local cafe has people queuing up to get a taste. I recently joined Winceats and her partner for some yummy and filling breakfast. Over the last few weeks, there has been great changes in my life, from travel to Lifestyle. But one more noticeable than others is the cessation of weekly date nights. Regular readers know that when Winceats moved to London we decided to stop weekly girly date nights. Instead we opted for monthly date nights but unfortunately due to my travels this has happened yet. Luckily for us we’ve be able to see each other more recently, went to…

Did you know that Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe and is one of the richest too? I didn’t because it is a country that is often overlooked for its neighboring countries; Germany, France and Belgium. Luxembourg is so small that you can drive fro the north to the south in just two hours and you’re done. It truly is that small but let me tell you, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty. At the beginning of March 2018, I flew to Frankfurt Germany and hopped on a bus to Luxembourg city. For all my budget travelers, its not a cheap city that’s for sure and only has ONE HOSTEL, Luxembourg City Hostel. Book this hostel in advance as its very popular with backpackers and budget travelers alike. Something to also note about this incredible small European city is that, on Saturday…

It was only a few weeks ago when we had the #BeastfromtheEast grace the British shores and now its back. Is it any wonder that many of us are now thinking of escaping to warmer climates? Personally I decided it was best I start putting together my beach holiday fashion essentials? I, like most people are tired of this weather and are ready to embrace Springtime not the #BeastfromtheEast2. It’s been really tough thinking of this season as Spring when all we seeing is winter temperatures. Don’t let the weather spoil the fun plan a trip somewhere warm and start counting down. We have a lovely trip to Marseille coming up and I thought I share my Beach Holiday Fashion Essentials. Beach Holiday Fashion Essentials Whenever I am planning a beach vacation, I always think  about items I want to take with me to make the trip enjoyable. Though I…

Tuscany is one of the most popular European Destinations in Italy with Florence (Firenze) at its capital. It is home to the best gelato in the world and famous for renaissance art with incredible structures like the Duomo. During our recent Tuscany Adventures, we made a point of adding Florence to the itinerary. Our hope was to find all the best kept secrets in Florence as well as the main tourist attractions. Our Tuscany adventures had started a few days before, we flew in Pisa airport and rode a train to Carrara. It would be in the Ortonovo region of Casano where we would find our accommodation thanks to Casale Amati. Our itinerary was one that needed to be adjusted to account for the distance between Casano and Florence. But fear not, there is a good bus and train system to get you into Pisa before advancing to Florence. The…

Pisa Italy a truly underrated city and often missed for more glamorous cities like Florence. It is a historical city which seems to attract people of all ages from all walks of life. Mostly when people plan to visit Pisa, it’s all about the Leaning Tower of Pisa and not much else. And for many, Pisa is not often the only destination but part of Tuscany Adventures. Our recent visit to Pisa was part of our Tuscany itinerary and we allocated 2 half-days to this historical city. It is certainly small enough that its easier to pair the visit with another city like Florence or Sienna. Like most people, planning our trip to Pisa was centered around visiting the Square of miracles, Piazza del Miracoli. The area is also known as Piazza del Duomo and is one of the most visited places in Pisa. It consists of  the Cathedral, the…

It is often said, To Travel is to Live, if this statement is true then I am truly living life to the fullest. The Take Twelve Trips March 2018 covers my recent travels to Luxembourg via Frankfurt Germany.  Initially when I decided to partake in the #take12trips challenge, I did it to help maximise my travels. I wanted to hold myself accountable by publishing them on the blog and sharing my adventures. For so long I sat and waited for the right ‘time to travel‘ until I realised I would never have the ‘ perfect conditions‘. There is always something or someone in life that will try to hinder your plans, how you respond is what matters. I chose to prioritize my travels and off I went to see the world, I am so glad I did. Sat at home reminiscing about all the travels I have done and honestly I…

With Spring in the air, it is not only women who have to think about having a Spring Fashion Capsule. Men as well need to think about transitioning their wardrobes from Winter to Summer weather. We have put together a men’s springtime Fashion Capsule for all our male readers. But before we get into that, here is how you can prepare your wardrobe for Spring. Spring is a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth, all based around starting again. It is supposedly Spring time in the UK but the weather doesn’t seem to have received the memo. Last week we had the #BeastfromtheEast which brought snow with it, it wasn’t welcome to say the least. Due to the extreme change in weather I put together my Spring Beauty Routine. Reading through the blog, I realised I have never shared a Spring Beauty Routine before. Often I share Winter skincare and Summer skincare routine but nothing spring related. It is not that I do not have a routine, I do but it is fairly similar to the Autumn skincare routine. But this year, the Spring Beauty Routine is slightly different because I have a new gadget. I was recently sent the Comedo Suction Microdermabrasion Machine by *Krasr. As part of my Spring Beauty Routine, it’s good…

Le Macine is a holiday rental home which is part of Casale Amati, located in the Italian region of Ortonovo. The holiday rental property is housed in an old Olive oil processing mill turned into beautiful accommodations. With a surface area of 110 square metres, Le Macine is a beautiful flat and can accommodate 6 persons. We recently had a pleasure of staying at Casale Amati and Le Macine is one of the properties we utilized. Related: Casale Amati Country House Casale Amati – Le Macine Upon our arrival at the property, we were shown inside to the ‘exhibition room’ which is a nice quaint area. Then lead up the stairs to the right {to the left is La Marchesa}, we were all in awe of the entrance. Through the glass door we proceeded inside and found a beautiful old processing mill machinery. I can not describe how gorgeous this has blended…

7Rooms is a quaint bed and breakfast located 2 kilo meters from Pisa airport in Italy. The B&B is situated a few minutes walk from the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli.  Making it the perfect location for those wishing to explore the historical cities of Pisa and Florence. Inspite of the name; 7Rooms, this B&B with only 6 rooms, all beautifully decorated and air-conditioned. Our recent adventures to Pisa took us to Casale Amati, a beautiful holiday rental property in Ortonovo. We had spent 4 beautiful days there before we left for 7Rooms due to its proximity to the airport. When I was researching appropriate accommodations for four adults sharing two rooms, 7Rooms  was the best option. It’s proximity to the airport was most attractive but also how close it was to the leaning tower. Where to stay in Pisa: 7Rooms Bed and Breakfast I had made the reservation for 7Rooms via Expedia…

Whenever I set goals for the month, somehow I feel I have given myself structure and direction. The aim of the March 2018 goals is to offer some direction to an upcoming chaotic month. What I mean by chaotic is, the many deadlines and travels that are coming up. Life is very good at throwing curves balls and sometimes this can throw us off our game. Which is fine, the important part is how we reactive to it and how we move forward. Regular readers know that for me setting goals has been part of my life for the longest time. I am sure many readers are the same, things don’t always go to plan but I always have a plan. Some plans will definitely need altering but that’s how one adapts to changes.   Recap of February 2018 Goals As is common practice here on A July Dreamer, reviewing…

The February 2018 Sponsors roundup is the Second appreciation post of the year showcasing my Sponsors. Obviously I am thankful to all sponsors but each much I pay special attention to the ones I recently collaborated with. I also know that I wouldn’t be where I am right now without the support of my family, friends, bloggers and other readers. Thank you everyone for supporting…
