This is not a sponsored post, I just wanted to share my personal experience with Go Opti & Ambrožič Rooms.
A few weekends ago I spontaneously made a decision to go visit Ljubljana, Slovenia and before I could think about it I clicked accept and confirm on my Wizz Air app. Ever since I got a membership with membership (£21.99 a year) I have been loaded with some amazing deals and as someone participating in the #Take12Trips challenge it is perfect. Sorry I digress 🙈
After booking my flight I then realised I had not actually decided where I was going to stay nor had I researched how far/near wherever I will be staying is from the airport plus how accessible it is to travel in Slovenia. So before I completely panicked I quickly asked around for help from fellow bloggers who had been already and places they could recommend. After I went onto my trusted and most used booking site Booking.com and just plunked in Ljubljana and like magic I was flooded with many choices, since spontaneous trips tend to be so expensive I filtered for cheapest first and the first hotel I laid my eyes on was Ambrožič Rooms (more B&B than hotel). I quickly saw some reviews and was happy with £24 per night charge and quickly reserved the double room.
Review of Ambrožič Rooms
The room was very sizeable and could accommodate a family of 5 with room for pushchair to spare. Facilities were shared which I had no problem with, they were two duo bathroom/toilet which were clean but one did run out toilet paper during the night. During the day some guests were very noisy and I could hear them from my room which was annoying but at night all was perfectly quiet and quaint. Overall I think it was a good value for money B&B and I would stay there again, definitely would recommend for those on tight budget.
Before I arrived in Ljubljana, I had booked airport transfer (pick up and drop off) service from Go Opti, Wizz Air offers similar service but for me Go Opti was more affordable (£6 each way) and gave me more options when booking what times I wanted picking up and dropping off.
Review of Go Opti
Departure at Luton Airport was delayed by 15 minutes which meant arrival time would be affected too. Estimated arrival was 10.35 but we arrived 10 minutes later, upon touching ground (but still on the plane), I called Go Opti who had been emailing and texting me for a few days before my expected arrival to tell me where pick up will be and emergencies number was provided. I called the emergency number, spoke to a lovely drive and explained my situation he said they would wait for me (not many companies can do this) which made me happy but turned out in the end there was no need to wait, I had booked pick up for 11.15. I was worried immigration and customs would take forever but it took a whole 5 minutes so I had 5 minutes left to spare. The driver was a bit crazy weird to another driver not sure what they were saying but looked like a fight would ensue but that didn’t happen (had to put my popcorn back in my bag 😂😂😂). His driving skills could match Lewis (F1 driver), gave me a fright at first but after 5 minutes I got used to it (MOH and my father drive the same).
I had chosen to take a shared bus but you have options to book bus just for you which was £10 more (so £16 each way) but still reasonably priced. When we arrived in Ljubljana town a couple got off first then me, he dropped all of us off at our respective hotels/B&B then left. He told us pick up on Sunday was same place as drop off and the bus came right on time 9.25 Sunday, I arrived at the airport 30 minutes after leaving Ljubljana giving me 1.30hrs to rest before flight departure. Overall great experience, definitely recommended for all budgets.
Have you ever used, Booking.com or Go Opti before? What has been your experience?
This looks like a neat place to stay. I’m always looking for new places to stay in different cities. Thanks for sharing this with us!
You welcome, ambrožič is a really lovely place to stay
Sounds like it’s a perfect place to stay on a budget! <3
Thanks
A s a family we do not travel a lot outside of just visiting other family. It is good to hear of reviews like this for future reference. The accommodations seemed simple and ideal for a small family.
Thank you Crystal it certainly is ideal for small family
Sounds like an exciting time! I love hostels, I stayed in one in San Francisco and one in Seattle and had pretty good experiences with both. I think noisy guests is something you have to get used to in these kind of situations, though I’ve stayed in hotels where guests were noisy also so I don’t know. Just people in general I guess.
That’s true have been in some hotels and some guests were really noisy
I have never used those booking tools, and honestly, haven’t heard of them! When I am able to travel more when money is better, I’ll definitely look into them!
Awww bless, I find them to be the most affordable booking sites currently on the market
Ahh one day, I would love to just book and go! I bet you had the best time! My friends have used booking.com and the hotel we stayed at was lovely 🙂 x
You do should it too, being spontaneous is what’s it’s about. I had the best of time and made friends
Looks like it was in a lovely location, and your posts on Slovenia have really opened my eyes to what Eastern Europe has to offer x
Slovenia is truly a beautiful country such an awesome location
Wow Myrabev I have to say you are one adventurous lady! Booking on a whim…that’s awesome! I should try to do that more often! Thank you for sharing your experience in visiting Ljubljana, Slovenia. I’ve never been there, but with your post I am very curious, particularly because it’s a trip that won’t necessarily break the bank! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Cara, I am loving how spontaneous I have become and if the trip is not too costly then I am going to explore to the best of my abilities.
This is so cool that you got to just spontaneously up and go travel around Slovenia! The weather looked a little dreary, but it’s awesome you got to experience the country!
Thank you Chelsie, I was very happy to do this and can not wait to do more in the future.
This looks like an amazing place to go I’d love to travel somewhere like this.
The photos are amazing too.
Thank you Joanna
Glad you were able to get a good nights rest, but a bummer that you couldn’t score a power nap during the day with all the noise. Sounds like the room was a good size. A bit scary drive you had though! That is the wrost!
Thanks Cindy, it was scary but I got through it
I really love booking.com. I find it easy to use & I think the reviews / ratings are spot on. That’s so cool that you just headed off last minute like that & were able to get such a reasonably priced room! x
Thanks, I love how spontaneous this was. I too love booking.com
I have used the Booking.com app on a number of occasions and always like to check out other people’s reviews before committing to a booking myself. Never heard of Go Opti though. Well it sounds like you had a lovely time despite the noisy neighbours and lack of toilet paper! xx
This was the first time I used Go Opti and I loved it. Booking.com is awesome
Slovenia looks like an interesting place and yes sometimes when the location is good the quality can go down a little.
Slovenia is nice place indeed
This sounds like an interesting adventure. I think sometimes if it is location we want the rest of the points are lower but if we want better quality if may not be in the location we desire. A nice review.
I agree totally we comprise if its location we want
I have never used either app but apart from the toliet paper and drainage it sounds like it was a good place to stay in! What is the culture like out there? In all honesty I had never heard of it before but I am intrigued to know more.
The culture is amazing, the country is still young and had so much potential but I think because it’s still raw makes it even more interesting
Minus the noisy guests and toilet paper running out, it sounds like a great place to stay and reasonably priced, too! Slovenia looks like a lovely place to visit, I’d like to go one day 🙂 xx
Yes minu those two things all was well and I am glad I got a chance to visit Slovenia.
