Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Featured Brand} Uncommongoods ~ Unique Gifts for Unique People

Uncommongoods, is the latest brand to be featured on A July Dreamer. It has been fun bringing you amazing and unique brands that sell the best products in their respective fields. Last week I featured another unique brand, Basic Invite which brings you the best event invitations on the market. When the email from uncommongoods popped into my inbox I had to do a double take because of the name. I mean it really says it all, un-common-goods, it’s not your everyday items but unique ones for unique people.  One such unique personal in my life is my cousin whose birthday is this weekend, I know she would love a unique present.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, all opinions, mistakes shared are 100% my own.

Uncommongoods ~ Unique Gifts for Unique People

Uncommongoods is an American online store that stocks and sells thousands of unique and unusual gifts from jewellery to home items. Dave Bolotsky founded the company 1991 after his visit to Smithsonian Museum craft show in Washington D.C.  The visit left him with the desire to connect unique handmade items and the artists behind them exposing them to the wider audience. Over the last few years, with the help of a co-founder Thomas Epting a photographer by trade has helped to make the business successful. It is a company that started in Dave’s apartment and grew so fast, now it has its own design team working with many artisans from all walks of life. The company has over a 100 employes but at one point only had 5 when times where hard.

What’s stands-out about uncommongoods is their dedication to sustainability not only for the environment but their employees and artists. The company ensures that no materials that are harmful to humans or animals are ever used in their products. Uncommongoods have even created a program that allows customers to choose a partner (non-profit organisations) to donate $1 to with every order. This incredible program was started in 2001 and has since donated over $1,000,00 to a non-profit organization. A lot more that can be said about this brand but I will let you check out there website.

Personalized Cutting Board Featuring your family name, this cutting board lends a personal touch to your prep work and presentation.

Each item sold on the website is personalised , there is a story and the makers of the item. I had a nice tome perusing the site and reading about these different artisans and the items they made. Throughout this post, the images shared are from the uncommongoods, from real people making something special.
