Destinations revisted is a new series on A July Dreamer. After a successful 2016 in terms of travels and completing a year travel challenge {#take12trips} I felt it was nice to revisit some destinations. And what better way to start the year than sharing one of the most memorable destinations of 2016! Vintgar Gorge in Slovenia.
Destinations Revisited ~ Vintgar Gorge
Vintgar Gorge was discovered in 1891 Jakob Zumer and friends. It wasnt until a few years later when the Gorge was opened to the public due to tourism in Bled. The Gorge is 1.6 km long carving its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills. The Vintgar gorge has two man-made sights; stone bridge of the Bohinj railway and the dam.
Destinations revisited will cover all the favourite places I visited in 2016 and prior years. I must admit I am not sure which I will choose next week because almost all of them are favourites. Though I will confess that Vintgar Gorge is by far the most memorable destination.

When I was chosen as part of a group of bloggers to visit Slovenia on my first press trip, I couldn’t believe my luck. Ofcouse I had visited Slovenia months before so I had idea of the culture there and what to expect. Granted I visited in winter but what I did not expect was how beautiful Vintgar Gorge is. I hadn’t heard of the gorge prior to this visit but I am sure glad I got the chance to explore this wonderous gorge.

I am hoping my pictures are enough to convey the beauty of Vintgar Gorge but I feel visiting it would be best. Whilst that is not a possibility for most, I hope my posts would be able to convey my love for this place.
Have you ever heard of Vintgar Gorge?
