Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Fashion Monday} A Dubai kind of Birthday

Last week Friday I turned 30 and treated myself to an extended weekend to Dubai. I had known for months that I wouldn’t be spending my birthday at home or even within the UK. It’s not everyday you turn 30 so I wanted it to be extra special and extra it was. Turning 30 if I am honest was a scary thought to analyse and digest. They say age is just a number and whilst it might be that it’s still a scary prospect. Personally I decided to flip the view on getting older and enjoyed the moment. If I look at the last 30 years of my life, I have accomplished so much including visiting 30 countries. Not everyone can say they have been to 30 countries by the time they reached their 30th birthday.

A Dubai Birthday

I had shared last week what I wished for my birthday which included a Michael Kors bag. Well as materialistic as that made me, I finally got me a MK travel set bag in orange {similar}. I am totally over the moon with this bag and overly protective of it. It’s not everyday you get luxury products but sure does feel nice when you do.
Getting back to the birthday in Dubai, apart from the crazy heat temperatures of 45 degrees day and night it was epic.
a Dubai kind of birthday
Because of the heat I made the minimal effort to explore the city and just spent all day at the pool and beach. The view from the executive suite was everything and more than I imagined. Dubai Westin is definitely a must stay at hotel in Dubai and I highly recommend it.

Look at that gorgeous view! I think I’d be the same in the heat, I love to explore new cities but the sun wipes me out when I’m on holiday!

I was so scared of turning 30 and it turned out to be my best birthday. It’s strange how we get so stressed out over a number. Yey for getting you MK bag! And for spending your big day in Dubai, it looks such a beautiful place.

It is an amazing place and excited to be planning another trip there in the future. I so agree with the strangeness we feel over getting older but once we embrace it all is well
