The avenue cookery school is a family run business located in London’s Wandsworth and offers a range of cookery classes. We were recently invited to attend a pasta making class with a few other bloggers making it an amazing event. Having never made pasta from scratch before, this was an opportunity not to be missed and we are grateful for being invited.
Diana is the founder of the avenue cookery class which she co-runs with her son and daughter and was started in 2004. The avenue cookery school has a diverse team from all backgrounds each bringing something unique to the team. If you’re curious about the team or the classes they offer then check them out for some inspiration.

The aim of the avenue cookery school is to “teach people of all ages and abilities to better understand food and move away from cookbook dependancy”. We at A July Dreamer are out of box thinkers and rarely follow a recipe but love the experiment. We felt the avenue cookery school definitely catered to our thinking and we enjoyed the pasta making class.
The Avenue Cookery School
The avenue is a family run joint and has only been doing cooking classes for the past 4 years. It is easy to see why the classes are popular because they’re so thought through. I think they are a great way to introduce someone to cooking as well as teach them not to be
The cookery school is about 10 minutes walk from Wandsworth train station and over an hour from Oxford. I enjoyed the walk because of the scenic London views that I admired along the way. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a glass of gin supplied by Malfy {Italian gin brand}, a great start to the evening.

When I arrived, I was slightly nervous since I did not know anyone but thankfully everyone was lovely. I was introduced to the staff members who all wore the cutest aprons ever. My cooking partner for the evening was the lovely Daniella. She and I have different dietary needs; she’s has a peanut allergy whereas I have a dairy allergy.
Before the Avenue cookery class, I was convinced that you needed to have master chefs skills to be able to make pasta from scratch. But as the evening gradually processed we were instructed and shown how to make fresh pasta in less than 15 minutes.

It was an incredible experience, being able to cook pasta from scratch is not something I have ever considered doing. The Avenue Cookery School definitely knows how to not only cook but also teach others in such a way that you’re able to learn after class. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to attend this class and learn to make a favourite pasta dish of mine.
Because Daniella and I have different dietary needs, we had to create a pasta that both of us could it. Thankfully, the avenue cookery school showed us how we could make a pasta that both of us could enjoy. We made a pasta that was to our liking and I served up the biggest plate ever that I was able to munch down quickly.
I am thankful that A July Dreamer was invited to the third event hosted by the avenue cookery school. We enjoyed cooking, meeting other people and eating the pasta we made. It was an amazing experience one that I am eager to try again, cooking is a wonderful skill to have.

It’s great to be less cookbook dependant! I am an online recipe finder and then adaptor, so I think this sounds brilliant. The malfy gin bottles are lovely too!

This sounds like great fun and I love the gin element too! 😝 I’m coeliac so have never tried making pasta as I don’t know how well gluten free flour would work.

This looks like fun! When we were living in Berlin, Italian friends of ours invited us round for a pasta making lesson.

This really does look like great fun. I have made pasta at home before and it was so satisfying. But, it must be great to go and learn with other people from a pro.
