Whenever I travel, there are certain travel essentials that I can not go without and a sleep mask is one such item. If the flight is longer than 3 hours, I make a point of grabbing a few zzz until we reach the destination. Traveling on long haul flights can be such a tiring experience but I have found several ways to pass time and that includes sleep. There are so many factors that can hinder your sleep on a flight including anxiety, noisy passengers, uncomfortable seats and the list could go on. The point is, a sleep mask shouldn’t be one of those factors that hinder your sleep but rather something that can help you fall asleep.
As an avid traveler, there is nothing I appreciate more than products that enable stress-free travel experiences and this is where the sleep mask by SleepMasterEU comes in. I someone who more often than not always mutters a few unpleasant words under my breath because of the masks currently available on some airlines. There have been many times I have been woken up by the light that has somehow managed to slip in somewhere and disrupted my sleep. When I saw the SleepMasterEU’s sleep mask and some of the claims it was making, I knew I wanted to give that a try.

Travel Essentials – Sleep Mask Review
So, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, this sleep mask is one of the biggest sleep masks I have ever seen or used. Initially, I reacted with skepticism because of the size and reading up on what it can actually do for you I was not too sure. But I’m never one to write something off without giving it my very best, I embarked on trying the mask in two areas of my life that I needed it the most, Flights and Hotels. The sneak preview is that I loved it during flights and it wasn’t too had when used during my hotel stays.
The main reason why I was eager to try this mask was that it claimed to come with sound muffing and as a light sleeper, this was an ideal mask. What I did find was that whilst it provided ‘some’ sound muffing, it did not completely rid the noises near you on planes, etc without wearing the earplugs that are included. The whole idea of the ‘sound muffing’ feature is that it reduces ambient sounds but in my case, I did not experience this without earplugs.

When it came to ease of use and light-blocking, at first I found it weird wearing a mask so large but with continued use, I got used to it. Because of its large size, it doesn’t allow light to sip in around the nose area thanks to its well-designed v-shape which is perfect. The feel of the mask is soft and I found my makeup stayed largely in place with little to no smudging but touch-ups are essential.
The mask is made from satin material making it very comfortable to wear but slightly hot for those who sweat a lot. I am often cold at night so this feature made it that more satisfying and I found it very comfortable to wear it. When it came to wearing the mask, it can be a bit tricky but wearing it first on your forehead then sliding down to the eyes seemed to work very well for me.
I am obviously biased because I had such a better experience with this mask than I initially thought so I would recommend it. Most people who’ve seen me wear it have lamented on the size and thought this might put off for some but for me it’s size works to its benefit. The large size means no light can enter and it covers your ears at the same time especially for those of us whose earplugs always fall off. The satin feel of the mask makes it even more comfortable than the sleep masks on the market.
After trying Sleep Master’s sleep masks, I must say that sound muffing didn’t really work for me but every other claim made about this product worked. It has been advertised as being different from anything on the market, a true game-changer for those who want to enjoy a great sleep. I sleep asleep quicker than usual, there was no light entering the mask, its very comfortable to wear.

A sleep mask is not something I have used, but I have heard many people say that they find them useful. My friend may find this a help though x

This sounds like a great sleep mask. Love that it is big so blocks all the light out. I will have to get myself one of these.

We have a long haul flight coming up and could do with a sleep mask like this, also need ear plugs!

We have a long haul flight coming up and this sleep mask sounds great – we’d be lost without ear plugs as well.

I have found sleep masks very useful for long haul travelling, coach and plane. It does look very different to ones I have used in the past, but looks comfy and sounds like it works well. I think to have total noise muffling it would have to be a very different shape and bigger still! So probably best to stick to earplugs too.

I like the idea of sound muffling as sometimes planes can be so noisy and sometimes I find it really hard to sleep x

I think I could have done with one of these on my night flight back from Orlando! I never manage to go to sleep this might have done the trick!

I am not used to sleeping with a mask because my skin gets easily irritated, especially around my nose. This one sounds intriguing especially because it is so big, and I’m thinking that because of it it’s more gentle around the nose area.

I rarely use sleep masks but my Mum does and the fact it can reduce noise as well is beneficial as she is a light sleeper and noise disrupts her sleep. I am going to share this with her thank you
