One of the major benefits of yoga for me personally is enjoying a good night’s sleep. Yoga allows for the mind to be more relaxed and stimulates and focuses the mind.
Normalizes Body Weight
Unlike other physical exercises, during yoga practice, you do not lose many calories. Yoga lowers the cortisol level in the body which suppresses our need to overeat when stressed. Yoga can help find balance and strengthens the core.
Improves Flexibility
Starting out with yoga, you won’t be able to perform all the various moves. This is ok and normal, no need to compare with others who are better are it. Due to different body types and sometimes hormonal changes
Since I started yoga, I have noticed the aches and pains have disappeared. Most moves which were super hard for me before are now much easier to perform.

Lowers Blood Sugar
Yoga moves can help lower blood sugar, increases good cholesterol (HDL) and reduce bad cholesterol. In so doing, it reduces adrenaline and cortisol and encourages weight loss and sensitivity to insulin.
Coordinates Adrenal Glands
One of the most important functions of the adrenal glands is to secrete the steroid cortisol. Yoga helps to low cortisol levels in the body, too high can compromise the immune system. This can also lead to weight gain due to the body distributing fat to the abdomen.
Boosts the Immunity System
Various yoga moves cause the organs the move about in the body and lymph nodes to empty. Because of this, your immune system is able to fight infections quickly because of the immune cells in the lymph nodes.

Improves Heart Rate
Vigorous yoga moves can raise the heart rate up but even those that don’t can improve cardiovascular function. Yoga helps to lower the resting heart rate, it increases endurance and improves oxygen update.
Increases Blood Flow
Through the various moves, yoga is known to increase blood flow and improve circulation. Yoga allows more oxygen to reach the cells around the body to allow them to function better. The levels of haemoglobin and red blood cells are boosted and take oxygen to the tissues.

I started my home practice due to the back injury ( I sit more than half of my day) and that basic practice slowly evolved in a full-time LOVE for yoga.
I follow a few yogis on Youtube and saw amazing results after two months of my home practice.
The best thing about practicing yoga at home ( I have a spacey enough home office) is the convenience. It’s quiet, adaptable to my mood and required no time consuming preparations.
You just roll out your mat and voila – you’re good to go!
I am no expert yogi, nor can do a headstand yet, but I highly recommend it for everyone.
