Tell me it isn’t true! How has it been 4 weeks already since I returned from my Ireland,ย Dublin weekend getaway? I feel like just yesterday I was making plans with my instant friends and before I knew it I was in Birmingham international airport waiting to board my flight and now I am sat here and it’s been 4 weeks already.
Time is sure doing something funny in my eyes. I truly believe that every time I blink someone tells me an event has already passed and I participated in it.ย Anyway, with the shock subsiding slowly, I can now share with you my Dublin weekend getaway.
Dublin Weekend Getaway
Where to begin? This was not like my usual weekend getaways where I explore the town, check out the popular touristy places and then take time to enjoy the city. This Dublin weekend getawayย was all about having fun with my instant friends that I met whilst at a youth service in Hamburg.
We had decided a day after meeting that we should meet again and not sure who suggested it but we agreed Dublin would be the next destination after Hamburg. The plan was set in motion and before we knew it, June was already over and it was July.
Arriving in Dublin Friday morning, I waited at the airport for my German friend. Decided to catch up on some work for the few hours I was waiting. After he arrived, we had brunch then made our way to the city centre where our hotel was located.
Traveling tips ~ buses in Dublin require specific change. So make sure you have the exact change for the bus as you won’t get change back. This is for local buses I am not sure about the course.ย

At the hotel we met up with our South African friend who lives in Dublin at our hotel. We waited a while for our other German Friend to arrive before we went out on the town to have a meal.
One of the most memorable times of that night was heading to Temple bar and drinking my first “Baby Guinness shot” and very first “Irish coffee“. I do not remember much else since after we were back to our hotel and finished a couple of drinks brought all the way from Germany.
Saturday arrived way too early for my liking, we had breakfast and then met up with our friends in the town. We had booked a hotel (for me and the friend from Germany) and a hostel (for our South African friend and German living in Cork friend), we met up in town firstly for a wonder around before we made our way to the Irish whiskey museum.

Touring Dublinย
The Irish whiskey museum was such a fun and interactive experience. I have never been to a museum like that before so I was really impressed how they unveiled the intriguing tale of the Irish whiskey history.
After an impressive tour and tasting of some awesome whiskey (๐๐) and I realised that I don’t actually like whiskey as much as I thought I did. We went off to wagamama for lunch as we were all craving some Asian foods and we had the best time.
It is travels like these that really leave a great impression on me. Don’t get me wrong, I still love sole traveling and wouldn’t give it up for the world but it is also nice to travel with friends. You have some company and are able to keep each other’s company.

I love Dublin, I used to have to go once a month for work, and usually stayed with a friend for the weekend before, or after a Monday or Friday meeting.
Its well worth exploring the hills outside Dublin too. So beautiful.
