I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

Extend That Holiday Feeling with Charlie Bighams

PR Sample

Are you off on holiday this summer or just returning and looking for ways to extend that holiday feeling? Well, look no further, we have a few handy tips to help you extend that holiday feel and even better Charlie Bighams has one too. Who is Charlie Bighams I hear you ask, he is an avid traveller who took it upon himself to create some of the best meals taken inspiration from various destinations her has been to.

It is easy to see why Charlie chose to create meals of places he had been to as a way to extend that holiday feeling. We’ve all be there, go on holiday, absolutely loved it and the food, then had to return to our usual dishes. For me when I returned from Thailand, all I wanted was to eat Thai food every day because am not sure when I will return to the exotic lands where the food was absolutely amazing.

Extend That Holiday Feeling

With this post, I want to share a few ways that I personally follow to extend that holiday feeling which as of now includes Charlie Bighams’ meals.

How To Extend That Holiday Feeling

Going on holiday is such an amazing thing to do, you get an opportunity to explore a new place or better yet relax at the beach. As a frequent traveller, I am often always in search of my next destination whilst enjoying another destination. I personally consider it my new addiction as travelling opens new worlds and gets you addicted to exploring other cultures.

We can all agree that, we hate dislike holiday blues and even though most of us are equiped with various tools, we still dislike that feeling. This is why I am excited to share some other tips on how to extend that holiday feeling without sinking into post holiday blues.

First Step – Clean the house

I am sure cleaning the house wasn’t one of the things you thought you could do to combat post-holiday blues? Well, hear me out, before I leave on any trip, I always make sure I clean the house, do the dishes and take out the garbage. This is so that when I return from my holiday, I don’t come back to a dirty smelling home.

Second Step – Empty the Fridge

Again, not something glamorous but something that is essential and has to be done. How many times have you gone on holiday, come back and items have gone off? That is a waste of money and a lot of work to do just after returning from your holiday. I make a point of using up all the food that might expire when I am away a few days before my holiday.

Third Step – Change your bedings

Whenever I travel and stay in hostels, I always wish I had such soft and luxurious beddings in my home. I always lament on how amazing it would be to have such items in my home and how it would feel like being in the hotel again. I made a nice investment a few years ago and whenever I go away from longer than 3 days, I prepare my bed before hand.

Fourth Step – Do your laundry

Again, not something glamorous but something very essential in the grand skim of things. Before I set off on any vacation, I make sure I have done the laundry and put it away instead of ‘the laundry chair’. And a couple days before my return from holiday I get my clothes watched whilst there if possible. The last thing I want to do is get stuck into laundry after laundry especially just after returning from holiday.

Firth Step – Schedule grocery delivery

I don’t know about you but most of my vacations ends on a Sunday and in the UK, on Sundays shops close early {4pm}. This is why being able to have your food delivery a few hours after you arrive is truly ideal. I hate just after returning, having to dash to the shops and pick items up even when I return during the week, it is handy having food delivered to you.

Sixth Step – Charlie Bighams

Back in 1994, Charlie made a bold move and quit his job, went to explore in India, came back and started his company in 1996. Since then it has grown from strength to strength and even opened two kitchens, London and Dulcote. Why I recommend Charlie Bighams is because their foods are not your typcial microwave foods but rather foods made simple. They stock a wide range of foods from over all more specifically Asia and Europe.

I have tried meals for two and they are pretty big in size, both meals had to be oven cooked. It was nice to plonk the meal into the oven for 40 minutes whilst I went and got a shower, unpacked and the food was ready. The instructions are so easy to follow and the foods tasted absolutely amazing, I tried the Fish Pie {had big chunks of salmon} and Thai Curry. I recommend Bighams because the food is nutritious, adventurous and very easy to prepare.

Seventh Step – Spice up your routine

One thing I dislike about returning from vacation, is having to fall back into the mandane routine. I chose not to have this outlook and rather thought it best to spice up my routine. Instead of just going home after work, I take a little detour and go for a walk near work or near my home. And if the weather is good, over the weekend I go out and enjoy a mini picnic.

There are many ways one can extend that holiday feeling, the ones have mentioned above are the ones I follow religiously. I also like to take a moment to reflect on the holiday, focusing on what made it enjoyable and looking for ways to continue that feeling even when I am back home.

Great tips, thank you! Totally agree it’s great to get the house organised before you leave. When you get home, tidying up will be the last thing you want to do!

Great ideas! I would probably outsource the cleaning the house if possible, to make things more similar to a hotel stay 🙂

I love this post – when we came back from holiday in May it was so upsetting especially as it rained for about 2 weeks! I love the idea of having ready meals or takeout ready for that first week or so too.

I’d never heard of Charlie Bighams before. We arrive back from our holiday Sunday night and should totally have scheduled a food delivery as we’ll need stuff for dinner, and for breakfast and packed lunches for the kids on Monday.

Yes we make an effort to tidy up before we go away, knowing we only have unpacking and the dirty washing to deal with on our return
