Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨

{GBU} The Happening ~ Week ONE

The happening is a new series which first appeared on A July Dreamer.

EVERYTHING

So much has happened in the last (almost) 3 months and I just wanted to find a way to document everything happening in my life on a weekly basis. I sometimes feel so overwhelmed that even though I consider myself organised I have been out of sorts. So today is the day I make a change and write an impromptu post about this week, the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good

Last week I started looking at apartments after making a decision to leave the current residence I am staying at. I have been living in shared accommodation since I left my parents house over 5 years ago and now I am ready to be an adult and get my own apartment.

This week I put an offer on a place and they accepted me so now just signing the contracts since all the background checking has been done. I am so excited and so scared at the same time, I will talk about this in another post once I get chance to write it.

As a (newly naturalised) British citizen, I applied for my first adult passport last month and it had been taking for ever. Today I got a text saying they are processing the application so fingers crossed I get it soon.

The Bad

Though I am excited the passport people are now processing my passport I have less than 6 weeks before my scheduled trip to Korea. I can not ask them to speed things up because it’s my first British Adult Passport so I have to be patient.

Though I am very much excited about moving into my place it suddenly dawned on me I will be alone (with occasional visits from Boo) and I have to buy everything for the apartment. To make matters worse I am getting the keys almost at the end of May on Wednesday and that Friday I have to travel up north for my Brother’s wedding so I literally have 2 days to move, buy the items and still go to my 9-5 job as well as make the house ready for the days after my brothers wedding.

The Ugly

I do not think there was anything ugly in the last couple of days/weeks except for when the background checking people contacted my landlord to ask about me when I hadn’t even had chance to tell the landlord I was leaving. Though my landlord is not upset it just created a lot of unnecessary uncomfortableness

So that is all for now, I am even tired just thinking about it. I know to some it’s nothing but for me sometimes it’s too much hence the blogging about it. Now it’s out of my head creating room for more.

What has been the Good, the Bad and the Ugly for you this week?

We moved into our first place almost 4 years ago, we just moved again into a bigger place. It was scary but pretty amazing to have our own space!

Moving is so stressful, but getting your own apartment has to be so exciting! I can’t wait to get to that step in my life. Remember you don’t have to do it all at once! You probably have a lot of the essentials already. Enjoy yourself at the wedding and worry about furnishing your place later so it is fun and not stressful. 🙂
