Hair Loss Treatments

Hair loss treatments, there are many on the market right now but which should you be considering? In this post, I aim to share with you some that I am either considering or are doing.

I recently shared that I have slowly been losing my hair in the middle of my head. Though I cannot pinpoint the exact cause; it could be dietary or health-related. It is something that has been weighing heavily on my confidence when styling my hair.

hair loss treatment

Currently, my hair is in braids, though I won’t claim to be the goddess of hair care but I do ok. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a patch in the middle of my head shorter than the rest. Initially I put it down to just treated hair falling off and in growth coming through. Then I blamed it on the stress I was expressing at work, but months later and it was still the same situation.

Over the next couple of months I ignored the now more apparent patch where my hair was just dropping off. I doused my hair with all the hair creams I can think of but this afro has a way of sucking the scalp dry. Within a few days of oiling my head, it was already dry and I need to oil again. It is this constant oiling, washing, conditioning that I do not have the patience for hence why I neglect my hair. But I can’t do it forever so I decided to make some changes and consider some hair loss treatments.

Hair loss treatments

A day at the salon

Though I do not always have the chance to visit a salon, I go to my hair dresser every few months or so. She has now opened a salon in Huntingdon Cambridge specialising in afro hair and she always has time for me. Whenever I go, my hair gets washed, conditioned, rinsed then treated before moisturising it.

One thing, I do not have a knack for is the treatment part, it is simple enough to do at home but I am often too lazy to do it. What I love is that my hair dresser is well versed in hair treatments except me her client I am too lazy to implement the simplest of options.

A salon at home

Yes I have said I am not one to do home hair treatments but every now and again I remember my mother’s words. Your hair should be your pride and joy as a woman, she obviously forgot how lazy I can be about it. So for the days when I can not afford to visit the salon or can’t travel to one I do it myself. Usually I start with washing my hair with shampoo, rinse then condition.

After hand drying my hair, I would dry with my blower on low heat before applying some hair moisturiser. I would love to say I can do the treatment at home, treatment is just putting conditioner in your hair and sitting under hot air for 30-45 minutes. Afterwards you rinse, wash again before you apply hair moisturiser and ready to style.

Hair transplant

There are so many companies out there offering hair transplant treatments like FUE which is offered by Harley Street Hair Clinic. Follicular Unit Extraction {FUE} involves getting some hair from a donor (usually back of the neck) to a recipient. I must say I do not think I am yet at the stage of wanting hair transplant but some of you might be.

Though FUE is a relatively new type of treatment, it differs from other hair transplant treatments. With FUE, the procedure is non-invasive, quick recovering time and no scaring. The beauty of FUE treatment is that it can be done in one season or several sessions.

With a successful FUE transplant, donor hair grows, moves and feels the way it used to.  Though hair transplant costs can be quite high the benefits are so worth it. Every time I think about hair transplant I think of Wayne Rooney now I can not imagine him without hair.

Cut it off and start again

The simplest option for me I think it cutting it all off and starting again. I don’t think I have that type of head that can be paraded bald so I will just trim it. I have been using FolliOne and it seems to be helping with my hair growth. But this will be confirmed once I remove my braids and see if my hair is actually growing.

Outside of changing my diet completely or taking some supplements, these are some of the considerations I have in place. Hair loss can be quite daunting especially when you can not pinpoint the cause and Dr. Google comes up with 101 diagnostics.

I’m sorry to hear that Anosa, it isn’t something that is very easy to handle especially as people can be very cruel. I have a friend who has quite bad alopecia and the things people say to her or that she over hears are downright mean. She has now resorted to covering her head so I will suggest she try the Follione too as she might find it helps. I really hope that it is helping you. Sending hugs xxx

I’ve never thought about the possibility of loosing my hair, although there is a period in the year when I tend to get a million of them in my brush each time I detangle them. I guess treatments never make miracles, otherwise men wouldn’t have that problem anymore.

Oh no!! Hair loss for women (and men) I’m sure can be quite a sad moment. I know that lazy feeling when it comes to doing hair. I can be the same but my hair benefits from it when I bother – need to wash mine today, treatment n all.
