Looking back at each decade, I feel both ā€˜older’ and ā€˜younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

How I plan to become a millionaire before 40

Recently on my YouTube channel, I shared how I plan to become a millionaire before 40 and more recently shared my updated 5 year plan where I highlight what things will bring me to the millionaire status. Obviously the intent is not to brag but to educate, inspire and motivate those like me who want to achieve financial freedom and lead the life they has only dreamed off but also build generational wealth.

Becoming a millionaire is not the end goal but rather a means to an end. I said this to a couple of friends and I got varied responses which is fine because (1) we all view money different and (2) we have different life goals and desires. Personally, I want to be the first millionaire of my family, the first to break through the generational curses and also the first to set up my kids, nieces and nephew up for a life of success. There are so many reasons why I want to become a millionaire and the few points have mentioned above are just a small part of the overall plan that I have.

How I plan to become a MILLIONAIRE before 40

To those who don’t know me, it might seem like a wishful dream and to those who’ve experienced the hardships I have might think of this as an impossibility but I for one do not subscribe to that train of thought and I am working on improving myself and my situation to provide my family with a better future. For anyone familiar with the F.I.R.E – Financial Independence Retire Early movement, you might have heard of ā€˜knowing your F.I.R.E number, this is the supposed number that would allow to either retire early or lead a comfortable life without stressing about money.

The concept of ā€˜having enough money’ is relative and different for every person, personally, financial freedom for me looks a lot different to other people in the finance community. I could quite comfortably live off 3/4 of a million based on my current spending, that is my F.I.R.E number but, as I said, I am looking at the bigger picture of not just myself but my parents and the kids. Everyone should be aiming for ā€˜financial freedom’ which means different things for different people but essentially having ā€˜enough money’ to support the lifestyle you and your family wants to lead without running on empty.

The plans I have of becoming a millionaire are very simple and these are:

  1. Invest in the stock market – build this to over Ā£100k
  2. invest in property – build this to Ā£1,000,000
  3. Saving for emergency funds – build this to at least Ā£15,000

To find out exactly how I intend to become a millionaire by 40, watch this video below and left me know your thoughts. Are you also working towards a similar goal and is ā€˜financial freedom’ something you are working towards for you and your family?
