Trying to stay active whilst working from home can be tough especially if you have a family and a demanding job but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many ways you can incorporate workouts into your everyday routine but for those like me who still struggle even with that, I want to share a little secret with you and its called Deskcise Pro V9. In this post I will share why I love this all in one bike/desk situation that improves your otherwise sedimentary work from home life but before then, some other tips to help you stay active whilst working from home.
A little back story to put things into perspective, I have been working from home for over 4 years now thanks to working in the pharmaceutical industry where most companies promote ‘Flexi-work’ lifestyle. At first I couldn’t imagine working from home because I knew I would be tempted too much by my love of television that I doubted I would be able to concentrate at work. Then before I knew it, I had a routine that worked for me where I would block time to be solely for working or for watching TV but one part of my life suffered and that was exercising.

Disclosure: The product mentioned in this post was gifted to me for the purpose of sharing my thoughts on the Deskcise Pro V9 from Flexispot. All opinions shared are my own.
How to stay active whilst working from home
Working from home is no longer for the select few, the last 2 years has definitely taught employers that if your employee works behind a desk they can work from home. As someone who has always been in a fortunate position to work from home, I welcomed this change but also know that it’s not for everyone. Some will much rather work in an office environment that work from home because being at home there is way too much temptation (which I can attest to). But for me, the biggest challenge in the last 4 years has been staying fit because I work from home and I barely leave my house. In this post I will share some tips I implored before on how to stay active whilst working from home.
Get Up Early
The natural early risers will thrive at this but those who struggle to wake up early will grumble because working up early especially in winter months is not for everyone. I am a natural early riser and my body clock is 5am whether I want to or not even on vacation I am always up at that time. If you wake up early, you can do some exercises whether its going to the gym or firing up your device and putting on YouTube for some quick and simple exercises – it doesn’t matter which, what matters is you try one.
Get up Every Hour
This is something my previous company encouraged employees to do is that every hour you need to get up and move around. This could be at your desk or if working from home then maybe move around your home and for those with terraced properties go up and down the stairs. It is not ideal being sat in one place for a long time as that is bad for your overall health so make sure you move about. I use my iPhone to remind me to get up and move, take my eyes off the screen and even take a minute to break in and out, this goes a long way.
Schedule Exercises into your Routine
If you are not an early riser then I suggest you incorporate your exercise into your everyday routine, this could be maybe 30-minutes of your lunch time you go for a walk, do a 20 minute intensity class online or at your local gym. If lunch is not doable then after work you can schedule 20 minutes workout, pretend you have one more meeting before you log off that you need to attend to. This one was tougher for me because I was always mentally drained at the end of the day so lunch time worked best for me.

Try a Deckcise
If you are a parent or maybe just lead a super busy life then, this might be the solution that you need, exercise whilst you work. When Flexispot reached out to me to try out the deckcise I was super curious and had to check out this ‘desk-bike’ situation. Working from home, behind a desk means I lead such a sedimentary lifestyle and I needed to find a way that I could add in more exercise into my life. Peddling the bike whilst typing my many e-mails seemed like a no-brainer to me although initially I thought how would this even work.
I have been using the deckcise pro v9 for over a week now and I can say I have loved the experience, I have noticed that I am continuously peddling for hours getting in that exercise without realising it. This desk-bike has helped me keep productivity levels high, stay healthy and active whilst I burn more calories as I work. What I love about this deckcise is that both the seat and desk and adjustable, seat is comfortable and bike has a coffee holder (win-win). The legs on the bike are ‘lockable gravity casters‘, the bike is quiet and smooth as you peddle so you can have it in an office where you are sharing with others and won’t cause disruptions.
I found the assembly of the bike/desk very easy it took 10-minutes from unboxing to using the deskcise pro v9, all you need to do is stretch the legs out, add the desk and adjust to your desired height. Apart from the coffee holder, it has a digital screen that records the calories burned, time been exercise, speed, effort etc plus there is also a resistance nob if you want to work a little harder. I am truly impressed with this deskcise and definitely recommend it to those wanting to stay active at home but struggle to fit in the workouts.
