Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. {Fashion Monday} Impress Your Date

When I was creating the impress your date outfit I realised one thing, have not been on a date in over 10 years (wow, just saying this out loud makes me cringe). It is scary to think how time flies when you’re in a relationship and though you go on ‘dates’ when in a relationship somehow it is different to when you’re not in a relationship.

I started thinking about back in the day, when I was fresh on the dating market searching for that one who would inevitably change my life (for better or worse) but change it would be. I kept going back to that feeling of wanting to ‘impress your date’ when you’re meeting for the first time, are official, being introduced to their friends and even meeting their family for the first time.

Even though most of us don’t think of us as impressing our dates for these occasions in actuality that is exactly what we are doing.

Impress Your Date

Impress Your Date

Since it’s been a while since I last went on a first time, I figured I share what I threw together recently on a not so ‘first date’ type of gathering but did call for the ‘impress your date’ kind of look. Most of us struggle with what to wear on special occasions or important gatherings, I know I do a lot of the time. But I have realised recently that I spend so much time over thinking it.

Those who know me, know that I dress for comfort first before style but then again lately I have been upping my style sense and I am thinking about how I am dressing and planning what is appropriate where. So when I had to attend a recent special occasion, I had several options and they were all simple and yet stylish. For this particular special occasion I am thinking about, I thought wearing a shirt dress was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Perfect Weather

Those in the UK know how crazy hot it’s been the last 2 weeks and not that we are complaining, we are just trying to get used to it. As someone who was born in a warm client and had, hard to adapt to new climate it’s been absolutely glorious if not torturous at times.

I felt dressing simple and light was the way to go and even during the evenings I did not need a cardigan as it was still warm enough.

I decided to pair a lovely shirt dress with open toed sandals and my large tote bag which practically carries my entire house excluding the kitchen sink. To make the outfit more stylish and standout a bit more, I threw together a couple of simple jewelry.

Like I said earlier, I tend to over think my outfits sometimes and it’s been forever since I last went on a ‘first’ date. What do you think of my impress your date outfit? Is this something you would wear? What did you wear on your most recent date?

I need to send this post over to my best friend, she making her way back into the dating world currently. Me on the other hand, I somehow manage to impress my boyfriend in joggers and hoodies 😀 I love this outfit though! I wouldn’t normally where a wrap around style dress but I really like the tartan kind of look 😀

I think the most important part of a first date outfit is to be comfortable. You definitely want to impress, but not be fidgeting with your clothes or wishing you choose shoes that don’t kill your feel. I usually save those issues for later down the road, where you can joke about trying to impress which is why you feet hurt.
