{Lifestyle} A touch of George

A few days ago I was contacted by a lovely PR from Talented Talkers for an amazing opportunity to collaborate with a homeware brand, which turned out to be one of my favourite stores. So you can imagine how over the moon I was and happy to collaborate with them. The brand in question is George Home & Garden (part of Asda – known as Wal-Mart in states/Canada); I have been a lover of George since we moved to the UK in 2004. For the first six months of moving to the UK our routine was every weekend Mum would take us (my dad and siblings) to Peterborough where we would buy food from Asda then be given up to £50 each to spend wherever we wanted and since George was right next door to Asda we would head there first. Back in the day (10 years ago now) we would buy the £5 jeans – which my father may or may not still have his, my siblings and I loved buying the £5 trainers, beddings and I loved buying leg warmers since me and the cold do not get along.

DSCF2569My bed is currently rocking the Illustrative london duvet set which is super gorgeous and such lovely material.

DSCF2565My nephew loves mickey mouse so this junior duvet which is an affordable price is a welcome addition.

DSCF2560
For this collaboration, I was given a budget of £250 store credit to spend in the George Asda home range and well I was a bit stuck to be honest as at the moment I am sharing a house with random people so was not really up for decorating this house so I contacted my Mum, SIL and sister to help me out. One thing I did want was a full length mirror for my room since I need to have one! like seriously I dress blind (I do not have a full length mirror), I chose this Asda Cheval mirror which was £40. This mirror is handmade in the UK and comes fully assembled for a clasts like me who is definitely challenged when it comes to assembly any furniture is a bonus.

DSCF2555
Though the majority of the items we got were for decorating our bedrooms I decided to include two essential items for the kitchen: Abode G2SSM3001 – mixer Electric mixer and Breville VKJ142 Hot Cup – kettle – gloss black  Electric kettle. My mum has had her hand mixer for almost 10 years now and well we needed an upgrade. As much as I love the hand mixer it gets tiring when you have a lot of baking to do especially with my parents being so involved in the community as well as the Zambian Association where they are required to do quite a lot of baking plus now and again she bakes for church so she really needed an electric one.

DSCF2545A great asset to the kitchen, the Abode G2SSM3001 stand mixer is a cook’s best friend. This mixer consists of a rotating bowl, and the mixer is removable and can be used as a standalone unit.

DSCF2541The Breville Hot Cup is easy to use – simply lift the main unit off the base and fill up at a tap just like a normal kettle! The base also holds a removable drip tray, which is easy to clean and dishwasher safe. No hassle, no fuss! Perfect for those with a hectic lifestyle, the Breville Hot Cup will dispense boiling water in a matter of seconds – meaning you can grab a cup of tea or coffee on the go – no waiting around and no need to be late for work! Also ideal for small offices, the Breville Hot Cup provides a quick and simple solution to time wasted standing by while a kettle boils… pop your cup on the drip tray, press a button and go. It’s easy to fill, easy to use and easy to love. With its sleek and contemporary design the Breville Hot Cup is bound to become the focus and talking point of any kitchen.
Speedy, slick and simple – the exciting Breville Hot Cup is set to take the world by storm – in a tea cup!

The kettle I will be honest though it’s with my parents I feel like I got it for myself and siblings as we like techy gadgets. This kettle is not your ordinary kettle its a smart kettle as it only serves one cup at a time. So how is works is you fill it up, place the cup under the tap and press start. Once water is done it will automatically fill the cup and that’s it no more or less. Mind you, you have to test out different cups to check which size it fills to the top and use that size only which is both cool and its limitation.

What I love about Asda’s George:

  • Affordable and Diverse
  • Dependable and Quality products
  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy and Honest
  • And great customer service.

If you like any of these products you should visit the George Home and Garden section, they have much to offer and of good quality too. For mama’s on the budget George has you covered as well, there items are affordable and do last long (just think of my father’s 10 year old jeans).

That’s so awesome! 🙂 I would go to town. haha I don’t know if they have that specific store in the US and I haven’t really been nesting ever since we moved out west. I kind of do miss it though. Maybe once we settle down in one place, we can start buying home goods like this too! 🙂
