Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Money-Saving Tips When Shopping Clothes Online

Online-only clothiers carry everything from go-out basics to chic workwear—and the prices are surprisingly wallet-friendly. Plus, resale sites are great for scoring high-quality staples at lower prices. One of the biggest money-saving tips is to keep a note on your phone with your measurements to compare them against a retailer’s size chart. It will prevent you from buying something too small that you can take in or return.

Online-only clothiers carry everything from go-out basics to chic workwear—and the prices are surprisingly wallet-friendly. Plus, resale sites are great for scoring high-quality staples at lower prices. One of the biggest money-saving tips is to keep a note on your phone with your measurements to compare them against a retailer'sretailer's size chart. It will prevent you from buying something too small that you can take in or return.

Know Your Budget

Even if you love fashion, you might not be rolling in dough when purchasing clothes. Buying things you might not need can cause financial stress, not to mention the guilt that comes from spending money you don’tdon’t have on something other than necessities. Knowing your budget can save you time, money and frustration when shopping online. Ideally, allocate a certain percentage of your income towards clothing each month. Depending on your priorities, it will differ per person, but a good place to start is around 5%. This amount will vary by season and your needs, but it is a great way to stay accountable and avoid overspending.

If you do have money to spend, consider purchasing quality clothing. Although it may cost more upfront, good clothing lasts longer, and you will not need to replace it as often. Also, consider using cash instead of credit. Buying with cash is easier to track and control, as you know exactly how much money you’re spending. Another great tip is to shop sales and use the ASOS promo code. They will have a sale section where you can find great deals on clothing. You can also sign up for retailer newsletters to get notified when their clothes go on sale. Additionally, websites can help you save by searching for specific brands and styles on your behalf.

Know Your Measurements

While the fashion industry tries to standardize sizes, one brand’sbrand’s size ten may fit you differently than another’sanother’s. Add to that that you can try anything on before buying, and it’s easy to see why the sizing is among the biggest online shopping frustrations. To avoid spending a fortune on clothing you’ll only wear once (at most) before returning it, do yourself a favor and take your measurements with a tape measure. Taking your bust, waist and hip measurements will give you an accurate idea of what to expect from different items and help you decide whether to order up or down in size.

Invest in a soft tape measure and start using it before you shop. It will make comparing sizes much easier and prevent you from accidentally ordering the wrong item that ends up too big or too small. Plus, savvy retailers will include a measuring guide for the product you’re considering to simplify the process. If the retailer doesn’t offer a measurement guide, read the reviews to learn if customers have said the item runs large or small. Pay special attention to photos – you’ll get a sense of what the garment will look like on your body type rather than waiting for it to arrive and then trying it on.

Check the Fabric

Shopping online can be frustrating if you’re unable to try on your clothes before purchasing them. Dresses that are too small or fabrics that are so sheer you can see your underwear through it can be a real turn-off. Plus, returning items is a time-consuming process. You can save some of the hassles by keeping a few key things in mind. First, always check a fabric’s description. Look for clues like ounce weight (in a metric conversion), opacity, whether it’s natural or synthetic, and fiber content. Also, look for a stretch percentage if the fabric is knit; this will help you determine how well it’ll drape and what garment it might be best for.

Many major retailers and some brick-and-mortar chains with e-commerce sites have sizing charts on their websites. These are especially helpful for clothing made by smaller brands and women wearing plus sizes. Local boutiques may not have these types of sizing charts, but they will often post upcoming sales or coupons on their social media pages, email newsletters, and flyers you might receive in your mailbox. These are great opportunities to snag your favorite pieces at a discounted rate.

Check the Reviews

Online shopping can feel like one of modern life’s greatest frustrations. You spend hours trawling online shops, adding clothes to your cart, and second-guessing yourself. The dress is too short, the trousers are baggy on the hips or they must be in your color palette. Then, seconds after your package hits the doormat, you realize you’ll spend your next lunch break elbow-to-elbow with serial returners in the post office queue. The key to successful online clothing shopping is knowing what to look for. Start by preparing your measurements and learning about fabrics. It’s also a good idea to compare prices and selections from different retailers. Many online stores will offer discounts and free shipping to attract customers. Ensure you’re looking at photos of garments from the same model, from multiple angles and in a similar feel to yours. If the images seem stolen from street-style blogs or other online shopping websites, you’re likely dealing with a counterfeit store, and your purchases may turn out to be nothing like what’s on the website. It’s important to read reviews before buying anything, particularly if it’s cheap and has a lot of 5-star ratings (it might be a fake review). Reviews can reveal details such as how well the clothes fit, whether they are durable, comfortable, and more. You can also learn much about how a retailer handles returns, especially if they have a generous return policy.
