Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Monthly {2016} June Goals

Happy 1st day of June everyone, this month has long been awaited for because it’s a month full of fun and wonder. I am still shocked how fast May came and went by but I am still glad it is June because 3 important events are happening: first weekend in June I am in Hamburg, Germany for a youth get together I am so excited as its been a while. Third weekend in June I am heading to Paris for the first time, I am too excited its surreal. I will also be going to Disney whilst there and can not wait. Then final important event is its MOH’s birthday this month and though not sure what we are doing I am still excited to celebrate it.

Now that I have shared my plans for the month here is a look at my goals from last month, before I share my June goals.

{2016} MAY GOALS

  • Car Theory Test – For the last 6 years I have been singing the same song ‘I will do the driving test soon’ then I would day-dream about all the places I will visit within the UK when I start to drive but never even got to do the ‘PRACTICAL’ test as I was always nervous. This time I have booked my theory test and will be doing some practical lessons with my dad. FAILED – I booked the test and went to do it but I didn’t revise and failed by 3 points, I am so mad at myself for not preparing and just going in blind.
  • Me time – As I have shared above, I did not really have much of ‘me time’ in April but since May does not have any travels booked (pending) I am hoping to use that time I would normally be away for myself. PASSED – Apart from the end of May bank holiday weekend I succeeded in having some me time.
  • Schedule friends in – My uni bestie and I have agreed to have a spa day this month when I return from Korea, I am hoping to meet up with my other friends as well instead of just keeping to myself in my apartment. FAILED – When I returned from Korea I scheduled some me time and before I knew it the month was done and I hadn’t had chance to even call my friends.
  • Plan forward – I am starting my postgraduate course this September but I am always going away in September so I need to start planning and getting myself ready for school again. FAILED – Not done much planning since I am still traveling a lot and trying to balance my life.
  • Improve the blog as a whole – Now I know this is too broad but that is my aim, I want to touch so many areas of my blog but I will work on that quietly behind the scenes and figure things out. Verdict is out on this.

{2016} JUNE GOALS

It’s taken me a while to think about my June goals and what I want to accomplish or put in place. For me summer as much as I love it is a most difficult time to accomplish goals because all I want to do is seat back and relax and not do anything else.

  • Car Theory Test – Since I didn’t pass my test last month, I want to re-try but this time prepare fully and then going to take the test.
  • Blog improvements – This one is an ongoing goal, I want to put in more effort into my blog but I need remember this is my hobby which I work really hard for and should not overtake my take job.
  • Holiday – Most people know I am participating in the #take12trips travel challenge and though I have not planned anything for August I am hoping to book Dublin for July and hopefully Budapest too
  • Schedule posts – I have been slacking lately and I need to wake up and change the scenery here. I want to use my free weekend this month and schedule blogs for the month.

I have always said on this blog that I set goals for me, to remind myself of things I want to accomplish. Some of these things I share here on the blog and others I keep close to the chest until all is certain. Whether I accomplish them in that month is irrelevant, my motto is ‘if at first you don’t succeed, move it to the next month and try again‘.

I hope that the theory test goes well this month, it’s tricky – I did mine not to long ago and I really struggled with the hazard perception (watching them made me feel sick!)

Aww bless hazard perception is fine for me it’s when they start about what’s what inside the engine that’s where I go doh!

Such a shame that you didn’t pass your driving test first time. I didn’t pass mine first time but it was a different format when I did it x

Don’t feel too bad about the theory, you can retake it! I find that the official DVA app with all the questions on really help!

I’m super jealous that you’re going to Disney, haha!
I failed my theory first time too, as I didn’t prepare as much as I probably should have – but passed second time easily, so I bet you will too! Good luck!
Great goals, have a fantastic June! 😄
