Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Planning the Ultimate Luxury Holiday

Sometimes, it’s worth treating yourself to a luxury break. Certain kinds of holiday go the extra mile in order to make you feel well-looked-after. But getting the best experience during your trip often means getting the planning right. Let’s take a look at how you might go about doing this.

*Disclosure – this is a collaborative post.

Choose a destination with exclusive appeal

If your destination isn’t suitably luxurious, then you’ll struggle to have the experience you’re looking for. Think about the kinds of places you’ve always wanted to visit, but which have always seemed somehow out of reach. Or, think about familiar resorts and cities that have always provided you with what you’re now looking for.

Often, it can be inspiring to consider what other tourists are doing. According to the annual Travel Trends Report from British Airways, around two-fifths of UK adults claim to have been inspired by social media to try out new restaurants and cuisine overseas. Among younger people, a hobby-specific holiday is the preferred option, with around 71% of 18-24-year-olds looking for something that reflects their interests.

Stay in top-tier accommodation

If luxury is a priority, then it matters where you’re staying. You might pick hotels, villas, and country houses that not only provide the required blend of facilities, but which also contain special ‘wow-factor’ features like infinity pools, balconies, and fire pits.

Of course, few options when it comes to accommodation are quite as compelling as the cruise liner. Through these vessels, you’ll be able to enjoy an all-inclusive luxury tour of a part of the world that you’ve always been drawn toward.

Craft unique experiences and excursions

Think about how you’re going to spend your time during the day. What kinds of experience will really help to elevate your vacation? This might mean getting on a helicopter and flying over a spectacular Alpine valley, or it might mean walking around the bustling center of an unfamiliar city, trying out the local restaurants and producers.

In 2025, travel is trending away from the screen-intensive, digital way that many modern workers live their lives. That means digital detox resorts and off-grid living are a priority for many.

Arrange luxury yacht charters

One of the best ways to get away from the pressures of modern life, and enjoy luxury facilities that are tailored to your needs, is to look for luxury yachts for charter. Pick the right yacht, and you’ll have all of the freedom and simplicity that comes with a cruise ship, except that you’ll be able to choose your own destinations, and shape your itinerary according to your specific needs.

You might go on a week-long voyage through the remote coves and lush jungles of the Caribbean, or through the clear blue water of the Seychelles. With your own yacht, there’s no limit to where you can travel!
