Looking back at each decade, I feel both β€˜older’ and β€˜younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. Preparing Your Kitchen for the Winter Season

preparing your kitchen

With Halloween and Bonfire Night behind us, it’s now time to prepare your kitchen for the busiest season of the year. From family get together, to Christmas dinner, your kitchen is going to see a lot of activity over the next few months, so it’s time to get ready and ensure you’re prepared for the excitingly busy times ahead!

Fridge and Freezer Fix

Throughout the year you’ll notice that your freezer becomes packed full of random items that you popped in there for a rainy day or those evenings when you couldn’t be bothered to go to the supermarket, and more often than not they never get used up. Now is the time to cleanse your freezer and throw away any half empty packets that you know you’ll never finish.

The same applies to your fridge, too, as you’re going to have lots of additional items to squeeze in when you have larger parties to cook for. Start by filtering through everything to ensure it’s not out of date, as you don’t need to keep that bottle of chili sauce that went passed its sell-by date a month ago. Once you’ve emptied out some of the unnecessary products from your fridge and freezer you’ll have plenty of space to stock up on essential items to enjoy over the winter months.

Pantry Preparation

Just like the fridge, your pantry will have lots of items that are either out of date or no longer required. Sort through your pantry to create essential storage space for all of the extra items you’ll be purchasing throughout winter. It’s a well-known fact that we eat more when the winter comes, with a sense of hibernation running throughout the kitchen cupboards, and there’s nothing wrong with that! From the essential mince pie recipe ingredients, to jars of cinnamon and plenty of ginger, now is the time to add a wintery touch to your pantry and ensure you have all the herbs, take a photo with HalloweenΒ photography backdrop, spices and essential ingredients to have some festive fun.

Festive Touches

Whilst it may be a few weeks before Christmas, it’s never too early to add a warm and welcoming touch to your home. Bringing friends and family in from the cold and welcoming them with a homely space is the perfect way to make them feel comfortable and festive. Introducing some new rugs to your hard-flooring is ideal for making the space feel warmer and cosier, as you can fill in the empty spaces with some additional colour and comfort. Similarly, you could look at introducing some scented candles to your home to really lift the atmosphere and fill your interiors with gorgeous scents that reflect the winter season.

Perfect Recipes

With your cupboards stocked up with the essential items to make winter a fabulous experience in your home, it’s time to plan some show stopping recipes to treat your loved ones too. From delicious mince pies and gingerbread men, to warm puddings and mouth-watering pastries, you can cook up a whole host of different goodies that will make your guests want to stay at your house for the whole season. Whether you search through your favourite cookbooks, or you find some well recommended guides online, there are so many amazing recipes that are perfect for the winter months!

Totally agree that a scented candle feels so wintry, hygge and cosy. Getting recipes right for the season makes a big difference too. Roll on Christmas.
