St. Nicholas Shopping Centre Street Food

Are you visiting Sutton and looking for somewhere to spend lunch? We recommend checking out St. Nicholas Shopping Centre where you can enjoy three different cuisines. If you’re a lover of Thai, Indian or Caribbean cuisine then head over to St. Nicholas Shopping centre.

St. Nicholas Shopping centre is a hub for leisure and shopping and is located in Sutton, South London. Like many shopping centres, it offers entertainment, dining and shopping plus other entertainment forms. I recently attended a blogger hosted by St. Nicholas Shopping Centre management to showcase the revamped mall.  

St. Nicholas Shopping Cente Street Food

In St. Nicholas Shopping Centre, there are three eateries; Sugar & Spice, Roti Masters and Bangkok Pad Thai. During our visit, we had an opportunity to not only explore the shopping centre but sample some foods. Each of the three eateries allowed us an opportunity to try something from their menu.

The three eateries are different to your usual shopping centre restaurants, in that they are more street food set-up. Whilst the foods are prepared fresh on the day, there is no eating area inside the establishments. Seating areas are in front of the eateries though not dedicated to any one particular eatery. 

After sampling the foods from these three eateries, I thought I give a high-level review of each. As mentioned, these places are street food types of establishments but inside the mall. Here is what I thought about each.

Sugar and Sprice Sutton

Sugar & Spice was started back in January 2016 but has since grown to new heights catering to various vendors. It is a family run business serving delicious Indian foods with a twist made from locally sourced ingredients. Most importantly, Sugar & Spice use local ingredients to support the local community. We were very happy to try various dishes from them, there menu is vegan friendly.

We sampled two chicken curries and one vegetarian curry which were absolutely amazing. I chose to try mild chicken curry as I am keeping off spicy foods. Being totally honest, I have not had such an amazing curry in such a long time. The portion sized where very filling but I am someone who needs dessert. For their dessert, we tried the marshmallow surprise and it truly was a surprise. Sugar & Spice also serves hot drinks and milkshakes and savoury dishes.

Bangkok Pad Thai – Sutton

In Thailand, street foods are a way of life and Bangkok Pad Thai always seems to serve up a storm. The owner Gee comes from the North of Thailand where everything moves at a slow pace. Gee’s wish was to bring authentic Thai delicious foods to the UK in her Bangkok Pad Thai.  

During our tour of St. Nicholas Shopping centre we had an opportunity to sample various dishes. It has been a while since I last had Thai foods and I was eager to try chicken curry or Thai fried rice. Gee and her team served up a storm, we had such amazing dishes to sample. I was impressed by the portion sizes, the flavours of each dish and how delicious it was.

Roti Masters – Sutton

Roti Masters is a Trinidadian restaurant founded back in 2009 and has since been serving delicious Caribbean foods. It is a family run business serving the best Trinidadian foods prepared by experienced chefs. Roti Masters prides itself in creating quality foods made from traditional ingredients.

One thing that we very noticeable upon arriving at the store was how the owners interacted with the customers. When it came to sampling some of their dishes, we tried the goat curry and chicken curry. I have not tried goat meat in such a long time, it was nice to have it in curry with delicious flavours. I can not recommend the goat curry enough, I was licking my fingers and wanted more.

We had such a lovely time exploring St. Nicholas Shopping Centre and sampling some of the street foods. One thing I would say is whilst these three eateries are just amazing, more options would make it more rounded.
