Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Ever wondered how the fashion girls look so effortlessly chic and put together? Well, they are likely following some of their beloved insider styling tricks that can elevate a basic everyday outfit to one that everyone will want to copy.

Build Confidence with Shapewear

Shapewear is a magical undergarment that can help sculpt your figure and accentuate your natural curves under your clothes. It has been empowering women for decades to help them feel and look their best.

Shapewear comes in a variety of different forms, from smoothing bodysuits to supportive briefs and shape-enhancing bras. Shapewear can also be sexy; bondage lingerie dresses and waspies are popular options that cinch the waist to create a flattering silhouette.

Whether you want something restrictive or a simple garment that can help lift, sculpt or smooth your figure, there’s a shapewear solution for everyone.

Invest in a Capsule Wardrobe

Fast-fashion trends are out, and capsule wardrobes are in.

But what exactly is a capsule wardrobe? This trend is all about investing in high-quality, versatile clothes that can be worn in many different outfit combinations. The fashion girls are building their own capsule wardrobes by choosing timeless pieces that can be worn across the seasons and won’t go out of fashion.

That neon green mini skirt is a no-go. Instead, opt for a black satin maxi skirt or a classic denim mini. These pieces are in fashion year after year. Plain, neutral t-shirts and tank tops are staples that can be dressed up or down, and a good quality leather jacket will always stand the test of time.

It’s time to start investing in your clothes, rather than throwing money at trends that will only last one season.

Use The Sandwich Method

This technique has been part of fashion insiders’ winning formula for years. Essentially, it’s all about coordinating the top and bottom parts of an outfit, with a contrasting piece in the middle. Just like a sandwich really, with two slices of bread and a filling in the middle!

For example, you could match a brown leather jacket with a pair of brown cowboy boots and sandwich a pair of denim jeans in the middle. The method is super simple yet very effective in pulling together a cohesive and polished look.

Add a Statement Belt

A belt isn’t just functional; it’s a fashion statement too. It’s a powerful accessory that can cinch the waist and add interest to an otherwise basic outfit.

Leather and western-style belts have been popular for years, and a bold cow print belt is meant to be one of 2025’s hottest accessory trends. You can rock it with a pair of jeans or buckle it over a shapeless top or oversized blazer to create a flattering fit.

For an even bolder statement, layer multiple belts with different textures and materials.
