Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Throwback Thursday} ~ Presents

DSCF2395 DSCF2382 DSCF2385 DSCF2320 DSCF2392 DSCF2394 DSCF2400 DSCF2401I know its almost two months now since Christmas but that will not stop me from sharing some of the gifts I got for Christmas from my family and loved ones. Our Christmas started around the 19th when we had to travel up north to visit my brother and his family to celebrate since they were not able to come on the day. We took some presents for my nephew and they gave us the presents they got us, it was a fun day. Before we left for the almost 4 hour drive we went out to Toby Carvery and had an amazing lunch, I simply forgot how good their food is and the Christmas menu was not exception. I have had many a beautiful dates with my boo in Toby Carvery and our favourite was always the Sunday breakfast, anyway I digress.

After we left my brothers place with strict instructions from my SIL not to open the presents until Christmas day and always keep them away from radiators I embarked on taking out our old but tiny Christmas tree and decorated it up nicely and put the presents beside the tree (no room or even space underneath the tiny tree). It took every ounce of me not to open but I waited and the wait was worth it. I love my family, they know me so well and everything they got me was absolutely awesome. Can you believe that some of the items they got me I am yet to even open or start to use? On one hand I want to open them but on the other I do not want to ruin the wrapping isn’t it just the craziest thing ever? Anyway I the ones have shown I have opened and the rest well maybe I will open them in July on my birthday…maybe!!!

As with every festive time one must never forget to get themselves a present (or presents in my case) just in case you don’t like what others have got you. Though in my case I did, I did not know that I would beforehand so I bought me some products which are very new to me called Makeup Essentials. Though I love the illusion the powder gives when you wear it (natural look) it also  sometimes makes the face feel dry and look a bit too pale for my liking so these for me are not in constant use just now and again.

So that’s my throwback Thursday post, not sure what I will do next week but I am trying this out as a new series on the blog but will see.

I was just telling my daughter the other day about how I missed talcum powder. It used to be much more common.

Fun throwback! I admire your willpower to not rip into all the gifts the minute you stepped away from your family’s house. I host a link up on Thursdays at pennyspassion.blogspot.com — come link up!
