Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Travel} Best Non-Ski Activities For Ski Holidays

Best Non-Ski Activities For Ski Holidays

Whether you’re just exhausted from overdoing it on the slopes, or haven’t quite got your snow legs to go out, it’s nice to take a break on a ski holiday. It’s a common misconception that snow sports is the only activity when you’re staying at a ski resort – but of course, that depends on the resort. Iglu Ski offer deals with several resorts in Europe famed for their aprés-ski nightlife and activity, so don’t fret – you’ll have more than snow to keep you busy.

Swimming Pool and Spa

Staying at almost any resort – be it beach or slope – almost guarantees a swimming pool. If you’d rather keep out of the cold, a leisurely afternoon swimming in the resort might be just what you need. Some of the more luxurious chalets will have beautifully designed pools, some offering incredible views of the mountains, so it won’t be a day wasted. Of course, if you’re tired, a long pamper session in the spa might be just what you need to pep you up again.

Sightseeing

Even in the snowy wilderness, there’s plenty to explore. Lots of ski chalets will offer snowshoe, railway, or even helicopter tours of the local region, offering spectacular views of the snowy mountains – a helicopter tour of Verbier, Switzerland, allows for some great pictures of the Alps. Alternatively, you might want to venture more locally into the nearest quaint village, which is well worth doing – lots of the mountain villages in Europe have some amazing food markets to grab a snack or bring back as a souvenir gift for friends.

Dog Sledding

Going up a notch from a standard tour, in some ski regions resort staff can organise a mushing session for you – where you can enjoy a carriage ride drawn by four to six gorgeous husky dogs. These dogs are surprisingly powerful and you’ll be surprised by how exhilarating this kind of carriage ride can be. Of course, after the sled session is over and the dogs are off duty, you might even be allowed to play a game of fetch against a beautiful mountain backdrop.

Ice-Skating

Increasingly popular among the more family friendly resorts, ice skating is a great way to enjoy some sport without lugging about all the equipment. Most will have offer skate school sessions, where beginners or children can learn the basics, and is a lovely afternoon out. Most resort rinks will include a viewing gallery with a cafe or bar, so you can enjoy a hot chocolate or a cocktail afterwards to warm back up.

I used to skate a lot during my childhood. I’ve been banned from doing any activities due to my back condition. But I love the idea of seeing the views. That would be really lovely, especially, a spa. Ohh I need that now.
