Jersey Channel Island is the largest islands between France and the UK, the island is famous for its agriculture, sandy beaches, cliffs and potatoes. The crown dependency island has the most enviable climate compared to mainland UK and makes the perfect summer destination. Jersey Channel Island, also known as the Bailiwick of Jersey is small enough for solo adventurers but big enough for an enjoyable family vacation.
When I was planning things to do alone on your birthday, a solo trip to Jersey seemed like something I would love to do. I love that whilst Jersey is part of the British Isles, it does have a much warmer climate than the UK. But that is not to say its weather doesn’t have tantrums, it is British after all, I am just grateful that I had three warm and enjoyable days on the island. On the days when it is warm, I suggest using this itinerary.

11 Things To Do In Jersey Channel Island
Whilst Jersey is a small island, I highly recommend hiring a car for the trip as it makes it much easier than relying on public transport. All the major tourist destinations are covered by public transport unfortunately it is not always reliable. If you want to cover more ground whilst soaking up all the sunshine and the sights then I recommend hiring a car.
During my visit to Jersey Channel Island, I spent 2 full days and hiring a car helped me explore of the island. All the things listed in this post are things I was able to do thanks to having a car on the go. For those who’ve never driven in Europe, I wouldn’t recommend it as the roads are very narrow.

Lavender Farm
The Jersey lavender farm is a working farm that grows Lavender and is open to the public for a visit. Previously the lavender farm was a dairy farm and now makes lavender based products.
Jersey Channel Island War Tunnels
An underground tunnel showcasing the history of Jersey during the German seize and the lives of the locals. Public transport is available to access the tunnels from anywhere on the island.

Botanical Gardens
Located in St. Helier, the botanical gardens are privately owned and created in the 1920s by Sir James Knott. The manor is open to the public and offers private accommodation as well as a browse on the grounds.
La Mare Wine Estate
If your wine lover then visiting La Mare should be high on your list of things to do on Jersey Channel Island. For a mere £10.50 you get a chance to tour the vineyard, learn about wine making and sample a few of their wines.

Jersey Channel Island – Elizabeth Castle
A fascinating castle perched on a tidal island with great views of Jersey and a great outlook to the distance. When the tidy is low, it is possible to walk from the St. Aubin to the island which is a great experience.
Mont Orgueil Castle
Another fascinating castle on the other side of the island, Gorey castle is an important part of Jersey history. It protected the island from French invasion over 600 years ago, the castle is open to the public and can be hired for private ceremonies.

Gorey
The cutest town on Jersey Island, the harbour might not be the prettiest but the coloured houses along the shore make up for it. With Mont Orgueil Castle as its focal point, it is a beautiful little village.
Jersey Channel Island – St Helier
Of the 12 parishes on Jersey island, St. Helier accommodates almost half the population and is the capital of the Bailiwick of Jersey. The town is very diverse and offers a tourist a lot more than cute restaurants but history too.

Liberation Square
The liberation square in St. Helier is a beautiful part of the city where you can relax and people watch. I became quite fond of the square more so the monument which signified liberation for the people of Jersey.
St Aubin’s Bay
St. Aubin’s bay is a beautiful part of Jersey, it stretches from St. Helier to St. Aubin and is covered in gorgeous sandy beaches. It is very popular with the locals and tourists alike especially swimmers and surfers.
Grouville Bay
Grouville Bay is also know as long beach because is it covered with sandy beaches, if you’re visiting Gorey then it makes sense to make a stop pit and enjoy a nice summer’s day out. The views are incomparable, the beaches are sandy and golden, the perfect places for a nice summer’s break.
I had such an amazing time exploring Jersey, I had planned a perfect 2-day itinerary to celebrate my birthday. Jersey is a solo traveller’s haven, small enough to get around but expansive enough to not get bored.

Would probably visit all of it especially those cool looking castles. I wonder how strong the scent of lavender would be in the Lavender Farm.

I have never been to Jersey but ever so slightly tempted after reading all the lovely things you got up too! The Lavender Farm would be ideal as that particular fragrance is very soothing and I am frazzled after the school summer holidays!!!

Sounds like there’s a lot to do on such a small island. I’ve never driven in Europe but you’re right a car would be so much easier for an island like this x

It sounds like you packed loads into your stay on jersey – I went as a child and remember the two castles v clearly. I sailed there too about 20 years ago and remember how much cheaper it was with no vat.
I really must visit again
