Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

6 Splurges Worth Making This Fall

Sponsored

As the season changes it’s time to update your closet, reevaluate your health choices and treat yourself to a little something special. Ready for some fall shopping, ladies? Here are six of the best splurges worth making this fall, from fashion buys to fitness deals.

splurges worth making

Block-Heeled Booties

Season after season boots are a staple of women’s fall fashion. This season’s hottest new boot trend is the block-heeled bootie. Designers like Rag & Bone, Kate Spade and Sam Edelman are embracing this chunky heel look. Whether you opt for suede, patent leather or something studded, this trend is definitely worth adding to your fall wardrobe. Go ahead, get the shoes!

Meal Delivery

Fall brings tons of social commitments, events and outings. In all of that hustle and bustle it’s not always easy to find time to make a healthy, home-cooked meal. Instead of grabbing your favorite bowl at the fast-casual restaurant down the street or picking up a burger on your commute home, subscribe to a meal delivery service. A lot has changed and many of these providers offer healthy and delicious pre-cooked meals. All you have to do is unwrap and heat it up. Need a suggestion? Start with Freshly. For less than $130 a week you get 12 chef-prepared meals that are natural and free of artificial sugars.

Workouts

The market is overloaded with hundreds of different types of workouts, ranging from barre and cardio to hot yoga and spin. This makes it difficult to know where to start. But with a little guidance and an insider’s perspective you can get on track this fall to become a healthier version of you. With ClassPass you can sign up for fitness classes, bootcamps, yoga sessions, spin routines and more without signing up for a studio or gym membership. This way you can test the waters and see what workout you enjoy best before signing that contract. For about $80 a month you have unlimited access to thousands of gyms and studios across the country.

Smartphone

How smart is your smartphone, actually? The Samsung Galaxy Note7 allows you to do everything smarter. Equipped with the S pen, you can write down your thoughts, notes or reminders in a snap. Forget about inclement weather ruining your device, too. This smartphone is water-resistant, so a little fall rain is no big deal. Plus, the Samsung Galaxy Note7 offers the cutting-edge technology of the iris scanner, which is so much better than the fingerprint, ensuring that your phone is protected.

Learning

Levo is the authority on empowering career-focused women. The online resource offers a dialogue-driven community for professional women and comprehensive courses that teach valuable, real-world skills, from leadership to communication. Sure, you may be out of school, but there is always time for learning. Splurge on a course and consider joining a local Levo meetup to meet like-minded women from your community.

Mascara Alternative

Mascara is one of the most important beauty basics you can have in your makeup bag. But does your mascara last for more than one day without clumping? The Weekend Lash Stain from Milk Makeup sure does. While you probably already have a stockpile of your favorite product in your vanity, consider splurging on something new this fall.
