• How to Pick a Headboard that Matches your Design Style

Picking the right headboard for your bed seems like a simple task. But, it is actually a big investment which requires extra attention. Keep in mind that you spend about 30% of your life in bed. That means that your bed has to be as comfortable as possible.

The perfect solution is to choose all furniture for a bedroom first. After that, you can select a headboard that fits well with your bedroom style.

    Attached and detached headboards

There is a wide choice of beds with beautiful headboards. But, if you have bought a bed without it, you can pick out one extra headboard for it. Look around and find one that you prefer the most, and which will match the colors of the walls and other furniture in your bedroom.

Plus, a detached headboard is a piece that you can change whenever you want. It is a simple way to renew the look of your room.

    Follow the style

The most important thing is to harmonize the style of your headboard with the style of your bedroom. Pick it in romantic or shabby chic if you like, but everything has to be in line. If you like a modern look in your bedroom, look for the platform bed which requires just a mattress without a box spring.

On the other hand, if you prefer a more classic look in your bedroom, choose a traditional bed that requires a box spring with a mattress.

All in all, you don’t have to make a traditional choice at all. You are free to be creative. Pick out a unique headboard that no one has. Put a personal picture on your headboard or an original photography you like the most.

    The right size is essential

I believe you know that the size of your headboard will have an incredible impact on your bedroom. Oversized headboard can look too dominant, and it takes a central position in a modern bedroom. On the opposite, small one has a minimal appearance. But that doesn’t make it less decisive for the look of your bedroom.

Maybe the right way is to match the height of a headboard with your height. Keep in mind that the standard height of a headboard is 120 cm, including its legs. But, if you are tall, you need higher headboards. On the other hand, if you pick out a headboard for children, it has to be lower.

    Choose the right material

There are a lot of materials for the headboards for the chic headboards. You can easily find one in accordance with a style of your bedroom. Wood is a classic choice for a headboard, and it can be both painted and stained. In the other hand, iron or brass panel can be ornate with twists or a plain, and it looks fantastic.

Nowadays you can choose bamboo or pick out some upholstered headboard with fabric-dressed buttons. Natural fibers for a headboard such as a wicker, leather or rattan are available too, and you only have to pick out the right color and shape.

    Bedroom has to be functional

Pay attention that a headboard has to be functional too. If you like watching TV or reading a book in your bed, pick out comfortable and time-consuming headboards.

Nowadays there are headboards that come with shelves, and you can leave your books on it. Some of them even have built-in lamps and bulbs!

Whatever type of headboard for your bed you choose it has to fit with the rest of your bedroom. Don’t mix styles and inadequate colors. Your bedroom is your oasis. Make it comfortable and pleasant, and enjoy there every single night. It is only important.

I love a padded headboard. It’s really important to have a comfortable headboard if you read in bed a lot. A metal bedframe just won’t do it.

You are so right about considering comfort, we have a headboard that I love the look of but it is brushed steel and has slats and as I love to read upright in bed, I have to use loads of pillows! Mich x

Woah I had no idea that there were headboards that now come with shelves. I could do with a shelf to put some of my books on so that would be very handy! x
