Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Take Twelve Trips- August 2018 Croatia Highlights

As a frequent traveller, I am often asked how I manage to travel so often whilst working full time. And my simple answer is, I search for deals and travel out of season. I have continued to do this by participating in a 12-monthly travel challenge, #take12trips. As part of the #take12trips, I travelled to Croatia mixing business and pleasure. In this article, I will share a brief account of my visit to Zagreb in the Croatia Highlights.

Take Twelve Trips dares everyone to make use of the 12 months and travel to 12 new places. The places you choose to travel to should be new to you and can be local or abroad. Back in December 2015, I was not sure how long I would continue participating in the travel challenge. But once I got on that flight to Slovenia, I knew I wanted to continue this for as long as possible.

August 2018 Croatia Highlights

Back in April, I visited the Zagreb for work, I knew I wanted to return to visit. Luckily for me, the heavens smiled on me and I had to return to the incredible city for work. When I visited the first time, I made sure to check out the city as much as I possibly could. It has so much to offer in architecture, culture and a very sociable place to meet new people.

This recent visit to Croatia I made sure to take it quite easy and not rush anywhere. I went back to some of the places that made a lasting impression on me and glad I did. It was nice to sit down have a nice cuppa and people watch. I was able to meet new people, mingled with the locals and enjoyed my hotel views.

Day one of my visit to Croatia started early in the morning, I took a taxi to the airport. Flying with British Airways is always an advantage, the flight was smooth and quick. Took another taxi from Zagreb to the hotel and got to work in my room. Decided I needed a rest so did not do much but enjoyed the views from the 10th floor.

Day two I found myself working all day with the vendor and not much chance to explore. Since I have been before and did an extensive visit, I just walked around a bit. Zagreb definitely left an impression on and I can not to return, it’s such an incredible city.

The Croatia highlights is a bit brief because I honestly just enjoyed being in the city. I would like to say I did more than take leisurely strolls but that’s exactly what I did. The beauty of doing a travel challenge like #take12trips is you can do as it as you like.

Are you an avid traveller and looking for ways to maximise your travels? The Take Twelve Trips travel challenge can help you maximise your travels. All you need to do is, make use of public holidays, weekends and annual leave days.

Croatia has never really been somewhere I’ve thought to visit. Although I think it would be a fantastic experience.

It definitely is a nice way to see the world and very self-motivating. In terms of money, yes you will need some but the travel doesn’t have to only be abroad, local but new to you counts.

I like to explore as much of the UK as I can on weekends leaving me more leave for trips abroad. North Wales is a great destination for weekend breaks, so much to cram in.

I am right there with you, this year I have been to Cornwall, Lake District, Salisbury and visited the Stonehenge. I am hoping to add in a bit more before year end. I love travelling within the UK when I can but somehow some places are more expensive than a flight abroad.
