Are you off to exotic Spain this summer? Well, then, let’s add my top 6 day trips to your itinerary. This country is big enough to offer you a variety of options that will satisfy your traveller needs. First of all, you don’t have to be a beach person to go to Spain. There is so much more than the heavenly beaches on the islands, Costa de Sol and even Costa Brava. 

If you like going to several places while you stay in one city, then there is nothing to worry about. During my last stay in Barcelona, I went to at least five or six places that made my vacation even more wholesome. Spain is a country I have found very easy to navigate and I thought I share these top 6 day trips I employ you consider.

Top 6 Day Trips You Should Consider When Visiting Spain

 {1} Barcelona – This city is my favourite and for many reasons. The beaches are nearby, and the sea is fantastic. When you get tired of sunbathing and swimming, put your clothes on and have a drink or lunch in the city, or shop till you drop on La Rambla.

For all of you history lovers I recommend the Jewish Quarter, Montjuic, Sagrada Familia, and Casa de Gaudi. My idea of a free and laidback vacation is when I leave the organization to agencies who make the whole roaming more organized for me.  {2} Dali Museum – It is not in Barcelona but in Figueres. You will need about two hours to get there, but trust me, it is worth it. The town is like a magical place from a fantasy. Add to that the museum of Dali that is like nothing you have seen so far.

Entering inside, you get a chance to see Dali’s paintings, sketches, installations, dolls, and whatnot. This genius was born here and spent a lot of years working in the museum and creating some of his most famous surreal paintings.

 {3} Girona – Just before Figueres, north of Barcelona, there is another small town. Far less crowded than Barcelona, and yet with equally unique architecture, Jewish quarter, friendly locals, delicious restaurants and lots of greenery. Every corner of this town is worthy of your camera shots.

 {4} Costa Brava – If you stay in Barcelona, I suggest you to give yourself a day off the city. Costa Brava is a lovely countryside with the best beaches and about twelve towns located on the coast. The place is so picturesque that even Game of Thrones producers decided to shoot some scenes there. 

 {5} Malaga – If you love art and are a fan of Pablo Picasso, don’t miss his hometown. Besides the grand artist, this town is home to incredible architecture and layers and layers of history. But, Malaga is often on the travellers’ list because of the Caminito del Rey. This is a track of five miles that was re-opened about four years ago.

It went through many renovations and corrections. The trail was built in 1901 and is famous because of its extraordinary narrowness. It is practically glued to the canyon walls.  It got its name when King Alfonso XIII crossed it on the day of the opening of a new dam. Shortly after, the path started collapsing. 

6.    Madrid – Spain’s capital will make you want to stay there a little longer. It has anything you could wish for – royal history, the very royal palace in which the Spanish king lives, excellent rooftop bars, lots of sunshine, and elegant architecture.

If you are a fan of museums don’t miss the Prado Museum and Reina Sofia’s Museum. If you want to see more of Madrid, hop on a panoramic bus and enjoy the ride. Don’t miss the Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace for a more relaxed time, and la Gran Via if you feel like having some party after the sun goes down.
