With the first month of this new year almost finished, I wanted to share 21 things I want to do this year. If the previous year has taught me anything its that never put off anything that you can do today for tomorrow, tomorrow is not guaranteed. Those who read my 20 in 20 bucket list will remember that although I did not tick every item on that list, I still did pretty well considering the state of affairs everyone was enduring over the last year. Even though I am not sure when I will even be able to start ticking items off my bucket list, it gives me great joy just putting something down in writing.
Those who know me know how much I love to travel and even if I wont be able to travel abroad any time soon, I am still excited about sharing the 21 things I want to do this year. This list will consist of places I want to explore more of as well as general things I wish to accomplish before the end of the year. Just like goals, items on my bucket list are those that are achievable and within my means but sometimes outside my comfort zone to make it a little more challenging. It’s not often that I don’t tick at least 90% of the items off my bucket list although last year was the exception to the rule.

*Disclaimer – just because I have listed a destination doesn’t mean I will travel there before it’s ‘sense enough’ to do so.
21 Things I want to do this year
At the beginning of last year, I shared the travel and lifestyle bucket list which I was sure I was going to accomplish. But who could have known what was brewing in the background and in any case, I not always able to accomplish everything I set. But, I am great believer in moving goals that you don’t accomplish in your set-time to the next lot and re-strategise. That is exactly what I intend to do with the goals from lat year that I did complete.
Although on my personal list there is more than 21 items that I was to do and accomplish this year, I thought 21 items was enough to share with others and to hold me accountable. This year is already shaping up to be an interesting year because we are all holding our breaths as to when things will change. We are not sure when things will improve or at what time it might all tip over. In any case I am optimistic by nature and I am excited to share the 21 things that I hope I will be able to do this year.
11 Travel Destinations I wish to explore this year
“ONCE A YEAR, GO SOMEPLACE YOU’VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE.”
– Dalai Lama
- Grenada – I attended a virtual press trip a few months back and I am sold on making Grenada my first visit to the Caribbean islands.
- Cancun – this is another Caribbean destination which I am hoping to combine with Grenada.
- Zanzibar – Whenever I go back home to Zambia, I always say I want to visit more African countries and I hope I can do that this year.
- Vietnam – before sis-rona, we were meant to travel to Hanoi for our girls yearly trip, this got cancelled so hoping if travel resumes I am adding this back to my bucket list.
- South Korea – for my yearly pilgrimage to visit my bestie but it might be a short visit, I might combine with another destination
- Singapore – another trip that got cancelled but was not on the public bucket list, so I am excited to add this bucket list.
- Northern Ireland – I have a friend there that I would love to visit for a weekend getaway
- Isle of Wight – Another perfect weekend getaway trip as part of my staycation for this year.
- Mainland Europe – I am not being specific for a reason, so many things to consider.
- Dubai – another destination I was meant to visit for a long weekend but got cancelled.
- Swansea Bay – we had such an amazing time visiting Swansea last year and can not wait to revisit.

11 Things I wish to Accomplish this year
IN THE END, WE ONLY REGRET THE CHANCES WE DIDN’T TAKE
LEWIS CARROLL
- Read 6 books – last year I read these 5 International best sellers and now I want to read 5 books plus 1 more.
- Increase my investments – I have been investing for 7 years now and it paid off big time last year and hope in a few years time it will do again.
- Pay extra on the mortgages – having two mortgages means I need to think critically of my spending but I also want to pay a little extra.
- Set-up sinking funds – I have a car which repayment is coming to an end in October so I want to save up to make a lump sump at that time. Then another lump sum for car insurance.
- Rebuild my emergency fund – it should have at least 6-month of expenses, I have 3.5 months ATM but want to build it up to 6-months.
- Set-up a travel fund – the passive income from the blog is always used as the travel fund but this time I want to actively save for my trips.
- Invest more in the blog – since last month I have been sharing content consistently which has fired up my Pinterest from 60k views 280k views, I want to reach a million plus views by the end of the year.
- Change 1 thing in my diet – last year I gave up on dieting and instead adopted intermittent fasting which is something I did already but not consistently and I have seen the changes so I am hoping to change another thing in my current diet that is beneficial to my overall health.
- Hold a plan for 1-minute – this is my goal for this year, I can hold 15-secs at my lowest and 30-seconds at my best.
- Continue with bi-weekly catch-up goals with the girls – over the last year, we have truly made use of Zoom and hope we can continue this year.
- Go Glamping – I am not a camper but I love glamping and if we can’t travel abroad, I hope we glamp with the UK.
And there you have it 21 things I want to do this year, I am excited and optimistic this year.

This is a great bucket list for this year, I really hope you manage to get it all done, I’ve not even thought about 1 thing I would like to do this year, I can’t see outside my house right now.

I wish you luck with your travel list – however, I would refrain from buying tickets to most of those places since things with Corona are getting worse and worse – despite vaccine etc. I’m not very optimistic that we will re-start travelling before autumn – I’m talking about Europe…and South East Asia is also basically closed.

It’s so wonderful to set goals and work towards accomplishing them everyday. I can definitely relate to wanting to save more and I can also relate to wanting to invest more into my blog. I am a new blogger but I truly enjoy it and I can see the potential for growth in this field. It’s all about consistency and celebrating the small victories.
