Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

5 Things that made me happy in September

Look back only enough to learn from the past and this is why I am sharing the 5 things that made me happy in September. I still can’t believe we are in the fourth quarter of the year, I am truly baffled at how fast this year is moving but I am grateful to be getting closer to drink trips, achieving financial goals and spending more time with my family. Every single month I made a point of sitting down and looking back and what happened in the previous month and back in July, I shared things that happened that made me happy.

As we start the month of October, I decided to reflect on last month and share the 5 things that made me happy in September. Looking back to last month I feel very blessed to be in the position that I am currently right now in my life and I am pleased with myself for some of the tough decisions I have made to get me to this point. Not everything went according to plan but everything worked out in the best possible way and it is important to reflect on the bad but not to dwell on it and focus more on the good energy.

Look back only enough to learn from the past and this is why I am sharing the 5 things that made me happy in September. I still can't believe we are in the fourth quarter of the year, I am truly baffled at how fast this year is moving but I am grateful to be getting closer to drink trips, achieving financial goals and spending more time with my family. Every single month I made a point of sitting down and looking back and what happened in the previous month and back in July, I shared things that happened that made me happy.

5 Things that made me Happy in September

September is always an incredible month for me in that I always travel to see my best friend however this year that was not the case. whilst this was a sad thing, other things happened that made me happy and I am glad September worked out the way that it did and it taught me some good lessons that I could carry forward. The month of September is my mum’s birthday month and I am glad that after many years I was able to spend time with her and treat her like the queen that she is. Apart from my mum’s birthday, here are 5 things that made me happy in September.

Small Business Wins

For the first time ever, the month of September saw my biggest income from Etsy where I sell budget trackers to help those who want to get a hold of their finances whether in debt or not. For the first time ever, I made a sell of over 70 budget trackers which made me really happy as I have been working hard at maintaining my shop, creating monthly budget videos showing how I budget and creating trackers that people can use and replicate the same process that I follow whilst tailoring to their own financial situation.

Financial Wins

As part of my financial goals for 2021, I set a goal to save at least £10,000 in my Emergency Fund before end of the year and at the time of writing this post I am at 83% saved which is absolutely incredible. With only £1850 left to save, I am looking forward to achieving my financial goal with at least a month to spare. Having extra income like Etsy and this blog has helped me to save more money than if I only had my 9-5 income to rely on. This is why so many people say, one source of income is no longer enough – covid taught us this lesson hard.

Connecting with Friends

Ever since I became 100% home-based, I have missed the constant human interaction and have relied on connecting with friends to get that. September was no different, a friend came over to stay which is always a highlight and I speak to my besties almost on a daily basis which is a blessing in its own right. I am always happy to connect with friends, share our life stories, gossip about the current state of the world and discuss our future plans and what we are wanting to achieve in the near future.

Treating My Mum

So September is my mum’s birthday month which meant we went all out for her, I made sure that she would have an amazing time. I booked two different restaurants not far from my home and she absolutely loved them, she came all dressed up and that just made me happy. My mum is one of those multi-talented ladies with an incredible fashion sense, Lord knows I wish I had half of her styling genes but we digress. It was good being able to spend time with both my parents but especially treating mum for her birthday.

Girls Long Weekend Away

So my friends and I went on a trip to the Lake District at the beginning of the month, this was such an incredible trip but I will not lie it was tough as well. It was tough because I found out on the day that I would be hiking the tallest mountain in England (Scafell Pikes – 978 meters). We did the hike in 6 hours (4 going up and 2 coming down), when I tell you I couldn’t walk for 3 days I am not kidding. It was such a tough hike for someone whose never truly hiked before nor trained for it but I enjoyed it and ticked it off my bucket list even though it was never there to begin with.

I had such an amazing September and the things mentioned above are the 5 things that made me happy in September. How did the month of September work out for you?

Your post inspired me to do the same.

I am considering of keeping a daily log of my little victories. At the end of the week, I will read everything I celebrated, which will help me experience the accumulation of all my little wins. And if I want to experience an even bigger win, I will re-read my celebration journal at the end of the year!

Thank you for sharing this and congratulations on your present and future wins!

You have many things to feel good about. I think the most important one is that time with mom. I lost my mom this year and I know how precious that timers.
