Mini Haul
In October 2015 I went to the states for the very first time for work reasons but I decided I wanted to make my trip a little bit longer. I went the weekend before my expected arrival in the office and left the Sunday after. I had agreed to meet up with a new friend I made whilst I was in Seoul, South Korea in New York City. Obviously I was über excited to see New York but more so to see what I can pick up in terms of beauty items. I have already shared the items I got from Victoria secret but I also checked out Sephora where I grab a Bobbi brown foundation stick (wrong shade), then I hit up target (which we don’t have in UK) and got me some Burt’s Bees lip crayon, body butter, gel nail polish and L’Oreal true match foundation.
Review & First Impressions
Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick – When I went into Sephora and the nice gentleman did the test match, he said my match was N4, I assumed there was only one N4 like you have only one NW45 for MAC. After letting the foundation settle on my face for half an hour I checked myself in the mirror and it was still there (perfect match) looked as if I was not really wearing any makeup on which I love. Went to the Sephora section that had Bobbi Brown and grabbed my N4, paid and never looked back. Fast forward to when I returned to my hotel to find I had picked N4 natural and it was waaay too light for my skin tone. I couldn’t go back because I was in new jersey and I was flying back to the UK the following day. I have kept the foundation and will not be exchanging it, instead I am wearing it then adding my MAC foundation powder so I am not looking like a ghost. I did love the texture and longevity of the foundation stick though.
L’Oreal True Match (Cappuccino n8) – because of my blunder with Bobbi Brown, I headed to Target and managed to get this L’Oreal true match super-blendable makeup. This liquid foundation is absolutely perfect for my skin tone and blends really well. I am not exactly big on makeup but this got a 5* from me, 1st I got the correct colour, 2nd it looks nice on me and 3rd it’s just perfect and what the doctor ordered.
Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon (Redwood Forest) – Another Target product I managed to pick up, when I wore it recently my sister thought I was wearing my Ruby Woo from MAC. It is such a lovely crayon, it’s 100% natural and though it transfers easily it didn’t dry out my lips which for me is a huge thumbs up.
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel – You all love my love for Sally Hansen nail polish so it is no surprise that I picked this one up but a little bit of a surprise because it’s not my usual go to colour. I was never worn a nude nail polish before so this is totally new on me. I am actually wearing it right now and it does look nice even on my skin tone. I loved that it was easy to apply and even more awesome was it dried pretty quickly. I am not sure how long it will last but if it lasts longer than 7 days then I will mention on the blog in my next manicure monday post.
There you have it folks, my mini NYC haul, though I do not really wear make-up and don’t paint my nails weekly I do like to do it now and again (when I remember I am a girl who loves to look good).
What are your favourite items from my mini NYC haul?

The L's Mum says
What a haul. Love the Burt Bees lip crayon. I love items like that. I always guess on foundation but I know I shouldn’t do because I could easily buy the wrong shade. I have heard great things about Sephora, I am hoping to go to america soon so I will definitely pick some bits up.
Miranda says
I used to guess as well for my foundation but when I had a chance to get tested what shade works for me I did then I picked the wrong one lol. Have fun in America

I love hitting the big drugstores etc over in NYC for the ranges we don’t get in the UK. Duane Reed always used to have some great products, and Target too of course. Sounds like a great haul.
Miranda says
Thanks, I was super excited when I could get some items not found in the UK when I visited the states
Kate says
Ah I love a good beauty haul 🙂 I’ve heard good things about the L’Oreal True Match foundation so might have to give it a go myself.

Oh I love Target! I’m kind of glad they don’t have them here though as I spend so much money every time I walk in. I like the sound of the Burt’s Bees lip crayon as I hate having dry lips!
Miranda says
I too hate dry and cracked lips, I am glad and sad at the same time that we don’t have target in the UK

Like you I am very new to the nude craze, I am not a big fan of nude lips on me but I think they look great on other people and that is the same with nail polish as I like burgundy’s and blues mainly.
Miranda says
Nudes don’t usually make my list but wanted to try this one out
Angela at Daysinbed says
Thats interesting. I never really struggle with shades for foundation. I think about this sometimes and wonder what my daughter’s experience will be like in future given she is half white half brown. (a lovely mix) I hope she can get the right colours easy enough.
Miranda says
For me I struggle because it’s either too bright or too dark, previously I would to just mix 2 to create my shade

I love getting new makeup! You picked some fab items in your mini-haul. I didn’t know Burt’s Bees made colored lip pencils. I’ll have to look for that as I love their chapstick. All natural ingredients is a great thing! x
Miranda says
Thanks Becky, I am loving my Burt’s Bees lip crayon
Emma says
oh what a shame there was different foundation sticks! We loved sephora when we were holidaying in Florida. Teen spent a fortune!
Miranda says
It was a big shame but decided today to use it as a highlighter instead 😊
