Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Dolce & Gabbana Is Getting Away From Furs

Dolce & Gabbana announced in January 2022 that it is eliminating animal fur and angora from its lineup in favor of sustainable eco-fur. With this change, it joins other fashion houses such as Burberry, Chanel, and Prada.

Dolce & Gabbana announced in January 2022 that it is eliminating animal fur and angora from its lineup in favor of sustainable eco-fur. With this change, it joins other fashion houses such as Burberry, Chanel, and Prada.

Innovation Is the Future

Innovation and social responsibility are two critical tenets of fashion that Dolce & Gabbana wholeheartedly embraces. The company understands that many of its consumers prefer environmentally friendly clothing and accessories.

Animal Rights Group Praises Decision

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals had enthusiastic praise for the Dolce & Gabbana decision. “Bravissimo!” read a PETA blog post about the change. The post went on to say the decision was “compassionate and business-savvy.” Other groups backing the shift include In Defense of Animals and the Humane Society International.

Faux Fur at Dolce & Gabbana Will Meet Fur Free Alliance Guidelines

New Dolce & Gabbana fur policies will meet guidelines from the Fur Free Alliance, which is composed of almost 60 worldwide organizations. The alliance aims to end animal cruelty and tries to connect fur-free retailers to consumers who want ethical goods.

As Dolce & Gabbana explained on Twitter, the company plans to continue working with master furriers since they are so deeply skilled and knowledgeable. These artisans have been and will continue to be valuable collaborators during the shift to eco-fur garments and accessories. Eco-fur is sustainable faux fur using materials that are recycled and recyclable.

Fedele Usai, Group Communication and Marketing Officer at Dolce & Gabbana, further said, “The entire fashion system has a significant social responsibility role that must be promoted and encouraged: we will integrate innovative materials into our Collections and develop environmentally friendly production processes, while at the same time preserve artisans’ jobs and know-how otherwise in danger of fading.”

Dolce & Gabbana Website and Stores Sell Faux Fur

Dolce & Gabbana shoppers can buy faux fur now. For instance, a beige (hazelnut-brown) faux fur jacket features a silk satin lining, round neck, long sleeves, and hook-and-eye fastenings. It is part of the Foundation line which emphasizes modernity, femininity, boldness, and confidence. The jacket is 65 percent acrylic, 24 percent polyester, and 11 percent modacrylic.

Gucci Was Among the First to Make the Change

Gucci, also an Italian fashion house like Dolce & Gabbana, announced in 2017 that it planned to go fur-free in 2018. Italian designer Giorgio Armani was another pioneer, along with Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Vivienne Westwood.

Additional brands getting away from real furs include Gucci, Prada, Moncler, and Yoox Net-a-Porter. In 2021, Italy imposed a ban on fur production. Starting in 2023, California residents will not be allowed to sell or make handbags, clothes, or shoes with fur (with a few exceptions such as used products or fur for religious or tribal reasons).

In December 2021, Elle magazine said it would stop promoting animal fur online and on magazine pages. Each of Elle’s 45 international editions agreed to the change.

Queen Elizabeth II Is Also Part of the Fur-Free Movement

Queen Elizabeth’s dresser, Angela Kelly, shared in her 2019 memoir that the monarch’s new outfits going forth will feature fake fur to keep her warm. Buckingham Palace clarified, saying, “As new outfits are designed for the queen, any fur used will be fake. We are not suggesting that all fur on existing outfits will be replaced, or that the queen will never wear fur again. The queen will continue to re-wear existing outfits in her wardrobe.”

The queen drastically cutting her use of real fur is a huge statement. Royals have long worn furs to all manner of occasions, including official appearances. Even the Robe of State is fur-lined.

Dolce & Gabbana Fashions Boast a Mediterranean Flavor

Dolce & Gabbana fashions, true to their Italian roots, feature Mediterranean flavors. The company sells women’s, men’s, and children’s fashions in categories such as dresses, coats and jackets, blazers, beachwear, underwear, gifts, home, food and beverage, and beauty.

I like it when I hear about changes such as this. There was once a time when a fur coat was a sign of status, but no more.

I LOVE this so much! The fur trade is brutal. They have worse condtions than commerical food producers (from what I’ve read).
