Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Best Events to attend in London this year

Sponsored

Nothing beats hitting the town, hair done, your best outfit on and heading to the event you’ve been counting down the days to. Whether it’s a date night, a girl’s night out or you-time, getting out and about nourishes the soul. It’s also a great way to keep your free time exciting and have a new experience.

The question is, “what’s on in London?”. But the answer’s simple. Whether you’re into club nights, all day raves, brunches, the theatre, comedy, or fashion, there’s an event that’ll suit you. So here are some of the best London events to attend this year.

The Art Of Banksy

When: Multiple dates from Thursday 28th April – Sunday 22nd May 2022

Where: 50 Earlham Street, London

Banksy first gained recognition for his work in the 90s but rose to prominence when celebrities spent thousands on his work. The political street artist has created some legendary pieces that won’t soon be forgotten, including Girl With Balloon and Love Is In The Air, a piece depicting a man launching a bunch of flowers as if it were a grenade. His thought-provoking pieces are adored far and wide, making this a simply unmissable opportunity to view the works of a current living legend.

Return To Heaven

When: Sunday 5th June 2022

Where: Heaven, London

World-famous club Heaven is back with a stunning lineup of house, acid house, techno and Balearic tunes. The club, which has a fantastic reputation in London’s LGBT scene, is known for putting on the most memorable parties. For this event, they’ve secured some of London’s most beloved DJs, including Nancy Noise, Lisa Loud, Kid Batchelor, and more legendary DJs who either helped shape music scenes back in the day or are currently dominating their genre. This fabulous night will start at 3 pm and continue until the sun starts to rise.

Summer of Love Boat Party

When: Saturday 25th June 2022

Where: Crown Pier, London

What better way to live your best boujee life than by living it up at a boat party? Live life like a movie as you enjoy the summer evening over two decks with music played by London’s best DJs. Departing from the Crown Pier, the party ends at midnight, but if you still have some party left in you, your ticket comes with access to a secret afterparty worth £25 in the famous London nightclub Egg. And if you can’t make the date, there are plenty of other dates throughout the year, so you don’t have to miss out!

Fashion Freak Show

Not all events are late-night raves. Famous French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, known for his unconventional approach, will be bringing his provocative, eccentric designs to London this summer. Fashion Freak Show explores 50 years of pop culture through the eyes of this eccentric, well-respected visionary. With circus artists, dancers, and actors, Fashion Freak Show is a must for anyone with a passion for fashion.

A truly legendary club that needs no introduction, Ministry Of Sound will be popping off in July for their 25th birthday. After putting on some of the best London events for a quarter of a century, it only makes sense this birthday party is one of their strongest so far. This party starts at 12 pm and goes on until 9 pm, perfect for those who value their beauty sleep! The milestone party will be booming trance and hard house classics and anthems to three rooms of music-loving partiers played by some unreal DJs. It’ll be a night that goes down in history!

Colour Factory is a black-owned club and food court in London. Overflowing with positive vibes, Colour Factory is all about inclusivity and freedom of expression. Perfect for soaking in the summer sun, there’s an outdoor section where there’ll be a barbecue to complement the tasty breaks tunes spun by Stanton Warriors, DJ Yoda, JFB and more talented DJs. Last years’ was insanely popular so, if this sounds like your vibe, secure your tickets for a day of beats, BBQ, and banging vibes!

I Love The 80s/90s/00s

A post shared by Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes (@bloomsburybowling)

When: Saturday 17th September 2022

Where: Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, London

This throwback party has sold out across London for a decade and will be landing in Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, a retro venue with retro bowling, karaoke, and an American diner if you get a bit peckish. Sing your heart out all night long to your favourite nostalgic anthems, including hits by Britney, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake, The Killers, Beyonce, Spice Girls, Pulp, and more.

No Scrubs – Shoreditch RnB Brunch Party

A post shared by The Joiner on Worship (@thejoineronworship)

When: Saturday 10th September 2022

Where: The Joiner On Worship, London

You can’t beat a good brunch, can you? And if you’re new to brunches, just know they got so popular for a reason! This RnB brunch in Shoreditch promises an amazing time with, you guessed it, RnB tunes, but also hip hop, reggae, dancehall, and afrobeats. Expect a meaty or vegetarian meal, three cocktails, party and drinking games, giveaways, and DJs spinning bops by Mary J Blige, The Fugees, Missy Elliot, Destiny’s Child, Busta Rhymes, Blackstreet, TLC, Lil Kim and more. And if this date doesn’t work for you, there are plenty of others throughout the year, so you can still get your brunch on!

A Christmas Carol

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by The Old Vic (@oldvictheatre)

When: Friday 18th November – Saturday 7th January 2023

Where: Old Vic Theatre, London

A Christmas Carol is an absolute Christmas staple. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the Christmassy vibe, and there’s no better way to experience the story than at the theatre. Adapted for the stage by multi-award-winning screenwriter and playwright Jack Thorne, this classic story of redemption has been performed annually since 2017, a testament to its brilliance if its multiple awards weren’t enough to win you over. Simply unmissable, A Christmas Carol might just be the best production of the year.

There are plenty more London events going down this year that look brilliant, but these were some of the ones we’re most excited about.
