Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Want Fantastic Hair? Here’s What You Need to Do!

Hair damage is one of the most common beauty woes in the world. Damaged hair often results from a lack of proper care and maintenance, although illness, stress and disease can be factors as well. Just like any part of your body, your hair deserves some tender loving care to retain its thickness and luster. If you’ve been having a lot of bad hair days, it is definitely a sign your locks are in need of some serious hair loss treatment. Fortunately, there are many hair care options available to you today.

lace hair replacement systemsHere are some tried and tested methods to achieve thick and gorgeous hair:

Nutrition

Adequate and balanced nutrition is very important for healthy hair. If your body is not getting the right amount and type of nutrients, it can affect your hair, causing it to lose its sheen and become dry and brittle. Eating a healthy diet is one of the surest ways to get thick and beautiful locks.

Make sure your diet contains adequate amounts of the following nutrients:

  • Protein

Protein is a vital element for hair growth. It nourishes your hair and lends it strength and volume. Rich sources of proteins include chicken, fish, dairy products, eggs, nuts and legumes, so make sure to add these foods to your regular diet.

  • Iron

Hair follicles need a nutrient-rich blood supply to grow. When the iron content in blood falls, it can cause anemia. This, in turn, disrupts the flow of nutrients to the follicles, resulting in hair damage and shedding. Add iron-rich foods like chicken, fish, red meat, lentils and spinach to your diet to maintain hair growth and strength.

  • Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps in the absorption of iron. It also facilities the production of collagen, which is beneficial for hair growth. It’s a good idea to supplement iron-rich foods with a diet high in vitamin C. Great sources of vitamin C are sweet potatoes, blueberries, blackcurrant, broccoli, papaya, kiwi fruit, guava, orange, and strawberries.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids contain oils that keep your hair and scalp hydrated. They also nourish your hair follicles. Plant-based foods like walnuts, avocado, and pumpkin seeds, and oily fish like salmon, sardines, trout, mackerel and herring are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

Dry hair masks

If you want to avoid treating your hair with chemicals, try some home remedies instead. These hair masks are made from natural ingredients, so they won’t do any damage to your locks.

  • For hair fall – onion

Onion is rich in sulfur, which promotes hair growth by facilitating collagen production. Chop an onion into fine pieces and squeeze its juice out. Apply the juice into your scalp and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse with a mild shampoo and let your locks air-dry. Use this remedy twice a week and see the results for yourself!

  • For damaged hair – avocado

Avocado moisturizes and rejuvenates dry scalp. A good source of amino acids, vitamins, and proteins, avocado protects and strengthens your hair on a cellular level. Combine a ripe, chopped avocado and an egg yolk in a bowl. Add water until the mixture becomes a paste. Apply the mask to wet hair and massage thoroughly into the scalp. Leave it for 20 minutes, and then rinse with lukewarm water.

  • For dandruff – coconut oil

Coconut is rich in antioxidants, minerals, and capric, caprylic and lauric acids. It combats dandruff buildup, and protects against hair loss, split ends, and brittle hair. Not only is organic coconut oil an excellent remedy for dandruff, it also smells nice and leaves your hair feeling soft and glossy. Apply 3 to 5 tablespoons of coconut oil to your scalp and let it stay for an hour. Rinse with a mild shampoo.

Hair transplant

In some cases, the damage and the resulting loss of hair are so extreme that you might need a hair transplant. This is a type of surgery where hair is taken from one part of your body (the ‘donor site’) and transplanted in the balding part (the ‘recipient site’).

There are many reliable hair care centers where you can get a transplant. The best solution is to explore your options and get an idea of hair transplant cost before proceeding with the actual process. There are many affordable destinations such as India or Mexico, The Hair Transplant Hub is a good website to find authentic and up-to-date information about transplants and related hair care topics.

I’m a firm believer that beauty starts from within and am religious about eating well and taking care of myself. When I don’t, it shows in my skin and hair first. That being said, this is the first I’ve heard of the dry hair masks and would love to give them a try! x

Whatever I can do to make my hair healthy I will do. I have very straight hair that if I don’t take care of it turned into straw.

I remember back in the day when I was under nourishing myself… My hair started to fall out about 6 – 8 months later! It was crazy!! I also remember when I started to refeed myself, and my hair started to get thicker. My hair has ALWAYS been thin but I remember that one time when I grabbed my hair and was like WHOA!!!
