When buying an expensive brand name i.e. Louis Vuitton, it is important to know you are buying a genuine piece. This reputable brand has been built over the years, unfortunately, there have been numerous knockoffs sold to many unsuspecting buyers. Trying to spot a fake Louis Vuitton isn’t always easy, however, there are certain things that you can note while assessing the authenticity of the bag.
Assess the Logo
Logos are a great way of identifying fake from genuine products. LV has taken measures to ensure logo is presented in a specific way. The logo is presented in such a way that it doesn’t have any blurred ages or smudging. It is also not tilted and has no greenish tints
The Piping and Handles
The next thing to assess on an LV bag is the piping and the handles, they are usually made of Vachetta leather. With age, the color of this type of leather deepens into a distinctive rich honey. For a knockoff however, it is less likely the color change will occur. The color usually stays the same, a characteristic that you can exploit to spot a fake.
Stitching
Given the fact LV bags are a luxury brand, you can expect the stitching to be done to perfection. Looking at the stitches of a genuine bag, you will definitely notice that they are perfectly even and straight. The stitching on every bag is always constant if you notice stitching that is irregular then, it’s most likely a fake.
Stamp
The stamp that is used on Louis Vuitton bags is another brilliant way of telling a fake from a genuine version. The font that is used on the stamp features a characteristic “O” that is wide and perfectly rounded. Another characteristic of the stamp that is missed by counterfeiters is the “L”. It has a rather short tail. The two “T” on the stamp are also very close to each other that they are almost in contact.
Other Notes
Other ways to spot a fake LV worth mentioning are the attachments the bag comes with. The handles of a genuine LV are hardly covered in paper or plastic for protection. Fake bags however provide this protection to keep the handles from fading since they are of low quality. The date codes is another thing that can help you spot a fake LV bag.
