Take12Trips Month Twelve ~ Last One
Month twelve of the #Take12Trips marks the end of the travel challenge that I embarked on December 2015. It’s funny to think my worrisome self thought I might not be able to do much during this challenge. But time and again I proved myself wrong and happy I had the self belief and drive to continue.
I recently shared my intentions to do more staycations in 2017 than traveling abroad. I love traveling and can not get enough but I feel I got lost in the idea of always been abroad. It’s feel as though for me the beautiful feeling of traveling was only defined by being abroad. There is nothing wrong with only traveling abroad, seeing the world and having new experiences. But there are some experiences that can only be had at home (within the country).
To make month twelve a spectacular last one, I was actually planning on staying at home and reminiscing. But why reminisce when you can still go out and make more memories? Why let fear rob you of your wants and wishes in life, not everything is easy for anymore. Certain circumstances make it hard to break the fear factor but try a little courage and a pinch of hope it does wonders.
Travels Before #take12trips Challenge
When I made the decision to do that #take12trips challenge, it was the biggest decision of my life. I decided not to live a life of fear or just living to pay off bills. I work too damn hard to not treat myself and with that conviction I made my first leap of faith. To be honest I had already started on the courage dose to explore the world around me.
After I naturalised and become British Zambia, I took my biggest solo trip in 2016. I got on a plane and went to visit my friend in Seoul, South Korea. I didn’t do it once, I went back again later in the year. It was such an exhilarating experience I didn’t want to stop. Second trip I took myself to Brussels in Belgium, my first solo weekend getaway in Europe. I did it and did it alone, I had wasted so much time waiting on people to go with but this was amazing going alone.
Another trip I took in 2015 before the #take12trips challenge was a cross Europe drive to Lithuania. We (I mean MoH drove) from England went via France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland before entering Lithuania. It was such an adventure, a first for me and what an experience indeed. It took a whole 28+ hours to arrive.
Month Twelve ~ The Last Month
Looking back at the year, I really have done more than I thought possible. This is why I feel the last trip of this travel challenge being Milan/Venice was the perfect location. I have spent so much time in so many airports but hardly rested during these trips.
I wrote about a wasted visit to Milan because we slept an entire Friday upon arriving in Milan. But I feel it was a good thing as we got to rest, it boosted us and gave us conviction to explore Venice with vengeance. I couldn’t have asked for a better end to this challenge and can not wait to see what 2017 has in store for me.
I am hoping I will be driving them to make my plans for staycations across the UK 🇬🇧 more possible.
Have you been following along on my #take12trips adventure? What was your favourite trip of mine?

We went to Milan earlier in the year and thought is was a great city. Everyone was dressed so smartly. Unfortunately when I went to Venice is was so crowded it took the shine off the trip.
