Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

No.1 Ship Street Brasserie | Lunch Date

PR Sample

Have you ever visited a restaurant that left such an amazing impression on you that you can actually taste the food in your thoughts? That is exactly what our lunch at No.1 Ship Street Brasserie has been like for me, such delicious food and vibrant atmosphere. We had such an amazing experience from start to finish there is nothing we can fault.

No.1 Ship Street Brasserie is an award-winning restaurant located in the heart of Oxford city centre. This modern British brasserie was opened in July 2017 thanks to two friends who wanted to create something special. At No.1 Ship Street Brasserie, you will find an A La Carte menu, set lunch menus and often put together a seasonal produce menu.

Disclosure – our lunch at No.1 Ship Street Brasserie was complimentary to support this review.

Lunch at No.1 Ship Street Brasserie

Oxford is home to some of the most amazing eateries and No.1 Ship Street definitely makes my list of Favourite Oxford Restaurants. As an Oxfordian, it is my duty and privilege to share all the wonderful and affordable eateries the city has to offer. I was very excited to work with No.1 Ship Street and could not wait to taste their delicious foods.

For those visiting Oxford for the first time, you have a number of options to reach the city. From the train station, its a 15-minute walk to the restaurant and if you’ve parked at Westgate, it’s a 5-10 minute walk. For those arriving via bus, there are several bus stops near the restaurant and the closest is at Debenhams.

For our lunch date, we had been booked in for 12 pm, though not required, it is highly recommended to book your visit as the restaurant does get rather busy quickly. All the food mentioned in this post is from the set lunch menu.

No.1 Ship Street – Starters

The Lunchtime menu is served from 12 pm thru to 4.30 pm Monday to Saturday. For a two course meal, the price is £9.95 and for three courses £12.95 which I personally think is reasonably priced. But please note these prices do not include drinks, these are charged separately but are reasonably priced too.

For our starters, we choose, the soup of the day {which was tomato soup} and organic chicken livers served with bacon, sherry and hazelnuts. We found both dishes to be absolutely yummy, the tomato soup’s consistency was creamy and thick. I love chicken livers and glad to report that this dish was well done, I had the crispy bacon and crunchy hazelnuts.

No.1 Ship Street – Mains

When it came to the mains, we knew exactly what we wanted to try, roasted tomato risotto with burrata and mint and an open beef burger with dill pickle and fries. I have never had an open burger before, an open burger is a burger without the bun. Risotto is one of my sister’s favourite dishes so she wanted to see how this compared and it did not disappoint.

When it came to the open burger, I knew I had made the right choice, the dill pickle was definitely the right touch to this new style burger. For the first time in the history of my eating excursions, I failed to finish the fries as I was full on the burger plus the starter was quite filling too. We definitely recommend both the dishes as they were absolutely yummy.

For those who want to add sides, we tried the spring greens and caesar salad which we both loved. I have seen many caesar salads but this one was done differently and I think it actually works.

Dessert: That Tart & Her Sorbets

I have a weakness when it comes to dessert, if there are any version of a tart and/or sorbets then I am having that. For this occasion, I chose the strawberry & lemon tart whilst my sister went for a sorbet. We found both to be quite refreshing and the perfect finish to our lunchtime date as the weather was glittering.

What I loved the most about the tart was not only the gorgeous flavours and taste that I enjoyed but rather the presentation. I think it says a lot about the chef when they put time into not only making delicious tasting food but it looks appetizing too. Whilst we absolutely loved the sorbet, we would recommend the tart more as it was everything we hoped and more.

No lunchtime meal date is complete without a glass of something refreshing, we both choose the new PINEAPPLE DAIQUIRI. I have had daiquiris before but never this flavour, I am happy to report it does hit the spot just fine.
