Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Fashion Monday} off shoulder styling

Off shoulder styles has been around for the longest time but the last few years have really brought them back. I have been avoiding the call to wear off shoulder tops or even dresses because of my cleavage. You see having E cup is not as exciting as some people think, most off shoulder tops end up looking like maternity tops. It’s not always a flattering look especially if it’s not what you’re aiming for. But hasn’t that stopped me from doing an off shoulder mini haul in New Look? Nope, I decided to find pieces that will work with my frame and not make me look 6 months pregnant.

Recently I hit up the New Look store near my home and picked up a couple off shoulder tops. I had two ideas in mind, a top for work and a couple for outside work. Not everyone in corporate world appreciates off the shoulder wear so best to make it minimal. I picked a long back sleeved off shoulder top for work which has big sleeves as well. The idea is to distract from focusing on my empty shoulders unless I wear a necklace.

For everyday wear outside work I chose two checked prints both with big sleeves. Those who know me know how much I love to wear skinny jeans and these tops go really  well with skinny jeans. I often don’t need to do much if I am after a relaxing weekend or want to hit up the town. What I like about these tops is that they are easy to style and can be worn anywhere.

Do you own any off the shoulder kind of tops or even dresses? How do you like to style them for a date night or running errands?

All I have seen in the shops are off the shoulder tops. Whilst I do like them, I just can’t seem to get on with them myself! Kaz x

Off the shoulder is my favorite right now. It hides the reality that my arms haven’t seen a weight or a push-up in far too long.

I absolutely love the off-the-shoulder trend! But I definitely understand that not all styles fit every body. There are so many cute tops and dresses that would look fabulous on my friends, but wouldn’t be very attractive on me! And it’s okay. I just know what fits me best and I go with it. 🙂

I used to rock the off the shoulder look half a decade ago. Now with two young kids, I need something less revealing and less easy to pull off lol!

I used to wear off the shoulder in 2003 when it was in fashion then, but now 14 years later I don’t think I could go back to this style. I do love the jeans and the shoes though, they’re really gorgeous.
