{Review} Travelodge Brighton

When I turned 25 boo decided to surprise me with a weekend getaway to Brighton, we had such a lovely time at the beach. I have such fond memories of that trip so much that when Travelodge via Talented talkers offered me a chance to choose a Travelodge anywhere in the UK mainland I choose Travelodge in Brighton. When Boo and I went last time we could not find accommodation we liked and parking was such a nightmare, though Boo was not able to accompany me this time I took my lovely sister with me to have a sisterly weekend getaway. I was offered 2 nights stay and I choose the 19th June and check out 21st June and made it a longer weekend.

Since I have stayed in a lot more travelodge hotels than any hotels in the UK, I had an idea of what to expect. I knew that I would get a very comfortable and clean bed where I would have a nice rest and feel rested and rejuvenated in the morning. I was offered the Travelodge opposite Preston Park which in hindsight was the best decision ever, I had wanted the sea front one only because of the proximity to the beach but after having read the reviews about it I was happy to get the one further from the beach as it was quieter throughout the day.

I had travelled from Didcot (Oxfordshire) to London Paddington then went underground to Pancras to meet my Sister before we proceeded to London Victoria and caught a train to Brighton. The journey took 2 and half hours, when we arrived we got our phone satnav and walked to the hotel, which took just under 20 minutes.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a very friendly staff member who provided us with 2 room key cards (this is unusual as most hotels just give one but we loved it) and 2 breakfast vouchers for Saturday and Sunday morning, I was not expecting this to be part of the package but we were happy to have received this.

We were so tired from the travelling so it was nice to enter our room and find a large comfortable bed, we showered (separately lol) and relaxed for the evening, we had bought food at the station for the evening but we were informed we could order and collect meals from reception. There was no telephone in the room but then again I do not think have stayed in a travelodge that had one. Our room was on the 8th floor facing the back of the hotel, we could see the rail line from our room but also we could hear the trains at night if we left the window open for more fresh air. Lucky the hotel had provided a fan in case we needed to close the window but still wanted some cool air.

The shower/toilet room was small in size but they had made good use of the space, the bedroom itself was massive and had so much space. I was informed that was a double room we stayed in, the cost of the rooms (all types) is £50 – £60 per night during the week and £140 – £160 during the weekend. I was told the room prices are sometimes cheaper if you book in advance, you have an option to check in early 12pm (normal check in is 3pm) for £10 extra and also option to check out late 2pm (normal check out is 12pm) for £10 extra which is very handy if you do not want to rush.

Breakfast is 7am till 10 am Monday to Friday and 8am till 11am on weekends, throughout the day you have a snack menu which is 24 hours and then from 5pm you can order from the dinner menu. The hotel has a cafe/bar area which is quite small, quint and romantic, I loved how clean it was and how helpful they staff were. The hotel has 94 rooms, 8 floors (12 rooms per floor except one floor which has 10). There is parking at the hotel but it is third party operated and you pay £5 per 24 hours which I am told in Brighton this is a bargain, the sea front hotel charges £30 for parking. For people commuting from train station to hotel, you can walk (under 20 minutes) or take bus 5 or 5a as it passes right outside the hotel and bus stops on either side of the road.

My sister and I enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the breakfast was very nice and hot plus of good standard, the dinner was also very nice and neatly packed to make it easier to carry to your room. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to and they offered such great service, the only downside I felt was the internet was free for 30 minutes and £3 per 24 hours. It may not seem like much paying £3 for internet but this is the first hotel have stayed in where I had to pay for internet. Aside from the internet I would definitely come back and recommend me it to all who want to have a peaceful nights rest in Brighton without paying an arm or leg for room, food or parking.
