{Review} World of Snacks #Japan 

World of snacks is a monthly subscription service aiming to provide you with sweets and snacks from different countries. I was sent this Japan box for a review, all opinions and thoughts shared are entirely my own.

Prior to being chosen to review, I had not heard of the company but of the concept. I had seen something similar on a USA blogger friend of mine and I quite liked it. Little did I know the UK has something similar in the works.

A little about our mission…

We aim to bring a unique experience to our customers. With  sweets and snacks imported from all over the world we hope that opening  your package becomes the highlight of your month. Some you will love, some will be unusual and some will be something you have never tried.

When I received the email to say I would be sent the box, I did not really know what to expect. I rushed over to their website and read a little bit about them. The idea is to give customers a unique experience of the world sweets and snacks one country at a time. One thing that really stood out for me is that you can cancel anytime with no obligation whatsoever. Also you can either get it for yourself or get it as a present for someone else.

With the festive season way underway I would consider this a really unique gift idea for someone special. I know a few people who would totally love to receive this box of sweets and snacks (I am at the top of the list).

How let’s dig into what I was sent in the #Japan box.

Giant Caplico – An unmeltable ice cream cone. This wafer cone is filled with strawberry flavoured bubble chocolate (like Aero). I have not opened this one yet as I am saving it for a special day this week. I am however every excited about the chocolate and strawberry combination.

Soda soft Centred Chewing gum – Gum balls with gooey soda paste centre. You’re initially warned that one of them is bitter and as luck would have it I picked the sour one. My friends ended up with the sweet ones otherwise these gums are really nice and I like them.

Panda Lovers ahoy on these two treats

Hello Panda – Outer biscuit and strawberry filling, each has a picture of a panda playing sport. I loved these little treats and immediately put them in my handbag for snacking on at work. Not sure if they will last past breakfast tomorrow but one can hope.

Panda Chocolate Wafer – another panda treat for panda loving fans (aka me). This panda wafer cake has a new and improved recipe with a crunchy wafer layer. A wonderfully fluffy and light airy milk and white chocolate outer design. This is another that I am saving for the late night coming up for cramming for my exams.

Black Thunder Chocolate Bar – I had been craving chocolate all week so let’s just say this didn’t last. It contains a cocoa-flavoured cookie bar mixed with japanese-style rice puffs coated in chocolate. I must confess I was left licking my fingers after 5-second munch on this chocolate bar.

Love Matcha then you will love these treats

Match Kit Kat – as I had tried these whilst in Korea and in Japan I didn’t take to trying them. A friend tried them and said they were ok but not his kind of chocolate and I must agree, I am not much of a matcha fan. But if you’re then you would love these as they are creamy in texture and lingers sweetly.

Peko and Hello Kitty Lollipops. Again matcha is not my thing but I did give these lollipops a try. They were quite tasty.

DIY Gummy Candy – they are designed to look like sushi so I was a bit weary sushi and candy. But I was happy to find they actually taste really nice.

World of Snacks Review

When the box arrived I had no idea of the content until I opened it. It was packaged quite nicely and secure enough but not enough to withstand the rain if it was left outside. Because the sweets and snacks are from Japan, I am impressed and pleased to say they include two pamphlets in English. One is list the items contained in the box with a picture and the other includes the list of ingredients of each item. I know most of us are cautious about trying new things without knowing the ingredients first.

The price for the box is £13.99 and this includes postage, which is a big bargain if I am honest. Since you get a different country every month and there is no contract, so you can cancel anytime you like. The box has 13 sweets and snacks which is such a total bargain as you’re trying new things that you wouldn’t normally try. Not all of these items can you find in your local oriental store and if you did I am sure they cost a pretty penny.

I must say I am truly impressed with the content of the box and can not wait to sign up and try other snacks. Remember every month it’s a new country to try, you can also buy this as a gift this Christmas.
