{Travel} Six European Cities you should visit in 2016

We are 12 weeks into 2016 and I have spent 4 weekends traveling abroad, weekends traveling within the UK and 4 weekends at home. In the four weekends I have spent abroad I have visited six European cities, some are capitals, some are popular and some are off the forbidden path. I have seen so much, there is so much more I want to explore in the six European cities so much that I am planning my next trip back to these cities. When you travel there are cities that live so much of an impression on you that once is not enough.

 Brno, Czech Republic: Second largest city in Czech Republic after the capital Prague, you can explore and see the city beauties in a day. Brno is famous among Eastern Europeans for its Crypt where you can see the mummies in the Crypt church, the bullet shaped clock and the Spelberk Castle.

Bratislava, Slovakia: Capital and largest city in Slovakia, lies 2 hours way from Brno, 2 hours from Vienna, Austria and 2 hours from Budapest. The city shares the Danube river with Vienna and has the beautiful blue church. The most beautiful and probably highest point in Bratislava is the Slavin, a war memorial site.

Warsaw, Poland:  Capital and upcoming tourist destination, Warsaw conveys both the pre-war architecture and modern skyscrapers. During WWII Warsaw was brought to its knees by the Germans for defying Hitler and The Old Town was wiped off the map, everything was crushed to rubble. The resilience of the Polish people won through and they have rebuilt The Old Town to (almost) its former glory.

Prague, Czech Republic: Largest city and most visited tourist destination with so much to see regardless of the season but the most visited during the summer with the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle the most visited places. Like most Eastern European cities, the city transport is cheap and so is the daily spending.

Vienna, Austria: Capital and lies east of the Danube river with Bratislava on one side, it is a city which has been shaped by its residents like Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. It is rich in history, architecture, museums but still keeps a hold on the modern era with its development.

Amsterdam, Netherlands: Capital with an amazing artistic heritage, the Museum District houses Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and modern art at the Stedelijk. The Red District also known as the sex district with so much to see but my personal opinion an area of the city to see once and that’s enough. The Anne Frank Museum is one of the most popular with tourists and a must see.

    Prague and Amsterdam are top of my list of cities to visit in Europe 🙂 The Anne Frank Museum is top of my list of places to visit in Amsterdam. I’d also love to visit Warsaw, it’s such a shame what occurred there during World War II but good to know that it’s been built up again. Lovely post, thank you for sharing. xx

    I feel like I just got a super exclusive list of must see places in Europe. I love that some are mainstream and others a little more off the grid. Not to bring down the awesomeness of this, but with recent events aren’t you a little weary of travel?

      Thanks Roxy and no I am not, obviously I am thinking of my safety but I have not been discouraged to visit these places again especially Brussels

    I intend to Revist a coupe and have put the rest on my Bucket List Anosa. You do make a gal wanna jump on the next flight gal…Thats Phallic clock woot…looks like ten Gerkin 🙂
