Stay at an Adult-only Resort in Marrakech

As part of my end-of-year retreat, I chose to stay at an adult-only resort in Marrakech Morocco and it was the best decision I ever made. My love for all-inclusive adult-only hotels and resorts came from my visit to the Maldives a couple of years ago. As someone who often had a bias towards all-inclusive resorts for more reasons than I care to share, I didn’t realize how much I was missing out on until visiting the summer islands in the Maldives and now I am a true advocate for resorts. The all-inclusive resort that helped me change my tune about adult-only resorts is the TUI BLUE RIU TIKIDA GARDEN.

I have been traveling solo for over 7 years and I would classify myself as an adventurous traveler who in the past had not taken much time in finding the perfect accommodation. Over the years, however, I have found that I am taking more time in choosing where I would be spending my evenings and it has been a game changer, I have moved from hostel advocate to Airbnb spokesperson to all-inclusive ‘adult-only’ convert. When I decided to stay at an adult-only resort in Marrakech, I set no expectations because I did not want to be disappointed but thankfully I wasn’t and had the best time ever.

Stay at an Adult-only Resort in Marrakech

The city of Marrakech was founded in 1062 and is the fourth largest city in Morocco after the cities of Fez, Casablanca, and Tangier. Prior to staying at the Tui Blue Riu Tikida Garden, I had been to Marrakech once with a group of friends and absolutely loved the experience, especially staying in a Riad. Marrakech is a vibrant city, it’s gloriously chaotic, and personally, I think it’s a place anyone case visit whether you traveling solo, in a group, or as a family. It’s an easy destination to access at least from the UK, mainland Europe as well as neighbouring African countries.

Choosing the type of accommodation you want to stay in is an important decision that needs time and care before deciding. As mentioned above, when I was in my 20s, I was ok bunking it out in hostels because I got to meet fellow travelers plus it was the most affordable accommodation although not the most comfortable. However, when I entered my 30s I knew I couldn’t hack the ‘hostel’ life anymore because I valued ‘peace’ and comfort’ more than meeting new travel buddies or saving a little buck here and there. This is why my stay at an adult-only resort in Marrakech was a no-brainer for me as I wanted comfort and peace of mind.

WHY TUI BLUE RIU TIKIDA GARDEN?

When it comes to booking my accommodation, the first place I check is Booking.com because it offers everything from high-end to budget-friendly plus being a genius member means I have access to more discounts. One of the most highly recommended ‘all-inclusive’ resorts (at the time of searching) in Marrakech was the TUI BLUE RIU TIKIDA GARDEN and after doing my own research, I knew it was where I wanted to stay. For this visit to Marrakech, I was not looking to explore the city but rather to unwind and reset for the new year and let’s just say the resort delivered on all counts.

The Hotel Riu Tikida Garden – All Inclusive Adults Only is a 4* hotel situated 3km from the Majorelle Gardens and 8km from the airport. In 2020, it was extensively renovated and now looks like a ‘secret enchanted garden‘ and welcomes guests who are 16+ years old. The resort has over 250+ rooms housed across 4 buildings, has 3 restaurants serving local and international specialties, and a sports and wellness center. WiFI is available across the resort and offers live bands and entertainment on selected evenings plus as part of the ‘all-inclusive’, the bar (on most alcoholic drinks) is free.

The resort is situated at the edge of Marrakech in a palm garden approximately 30 minutes walk from the Medina however the resort does offer a free shuttle bus several times a day. As part of the ‘all-inclusive’, guests can eat at any of the three restaurants and enjoy alcoholic beverages at the 2 bars onsite. What I loved the most is that they served a variety of international and local cuisines and every night I made a point of trying something new. Whenever I travel, I make sure to sample the local delicacies to expose my palate to more cuisines as that’s part of the adventure of traveling.

Sauna, hammam, massages, and other treatments are available at the spa for a fee, the resort has several pools including an indoor pool which I enjoyed soaking in. Like most resorts, towels for the pool area are provided and guests are encouraged not to bring the room towels to the pool. I found the staff to be very friendly and readily available to assist should you require it. The hotel is accessible to all adults whether you have a handicap or not, for those with accessibility issues, the resort offers handicap-friendly rooms.

The TUI BLUE RIU TIKIDA GARDEN is one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at and highly recommend it, it would be amiss of me not to mention that it is on a pricey end but I think it is totally worth the money and I would stay again.
