The Best Things To Do In Birmingham City, UK

Birmingham is one of the most popular cities and is located in the West Midlands. Though the city of Birmingham does not a screen tourist destination, it would amaze you just how much is available. It has an impressive architecture (Selfridges anyone), numerous Canal and splendid green parks across the city. I have been to Birmingham more than a few times in my life and every single visit is different from the next.

At the beginning of the year, we attended a concert at the O2 and we were amazed by the number of Hotels in Birmingham. Especially near the concert arena where we booked a hotel that was a mere two minutes walk to the entrance. Last weekend, I was challenged to explore the city and share my what we got up to during our visit. All my visits to the city have been about attending some sort of conference but never as a tourist. This changed last weekend and we can not wait to show off what we got up to.

The Best Things To Do In Birmingham, UK

Like London, Birmingham is a  multicultural hub of the West Midlands and a central hub for commerce. The city is populous and very diverse though it is still a young city at heart. Birmingham is considered to be the first manufacturing town in the world with many innovations that have led to modern industrial society.

The metropolitan economy is the second largest in England and its the hub of higher education boosting 6 universities. Amongst the UK’s biggest cities, it ranks 4th in the most visited city by foreigners. Even though I have visited the city many times, I can not say I have truly explored the city until recently. In this article, our aim is to share some of the places we visited during our weekend visit to Birmingham.

Museums and Art

I am a great lover of museums and make a point of visiting them whenever I travel. The city has some incredible museums and galleries, it would have been a shame not to visit them. A friend’s friend suggested we check out these ones and we are so glad we did.

FOOD

Like every big city, Birmingham has a lot of eateries around the city centre and above New Street station. Instead of trying what we know, Wagamama or Nandos, we instead went for something new. At both of these eateries, we had come incredible foods and can not recommend them enough.

There are other places that we loved in the city but only glimpsed from afar during our drive out. We loved Selfridges building, the cathedral looked beautiful during sunset and the Christmas market wasn’t bad either.
