Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

The Perfect Christmas Gifts for Travellers

With family and friends already asking me what I want for Christmas, I thought I share the perfect Christmas gifts for travellers since I am one. I have shared in previous posts that most of us receive gifts that we either don’t want or even need and to alleviate that, I believe we should ask what others want. For some people, this takes the fun out of buying gifts for others and whilst I am not against surprising someone, I think it’s better if you gift people what they actually want or you know what they need.

As a frequent traveller, I often tell my family and friends, ‘If you are thinking of getting me a present, I am a size window seat anywhere in the world‘. Obviously, I know this is an expensive kind of gift but it allows my family to know what I want so whatever they want to gift me, can be towards a vacation or something travel-related. So, if you have travellers in your life and are wondering about the perfect Christmas gifts for travellers, then I hope you will find this post useful and I am sharing some of my ideas as a frequent traveller.

The Perfect Christmas Gifts for Travellers

When I began solo travelling back in 2016, I always found myself wanting this or that whilst I travelled or I would see fellow travellers with gadgets I wish I had. Over the years I learned about things that I should always have as a traveller and since then, I make less and less impromptu purchases when I am travelling. Gadgets are the easiest gifts to purchase for travellers but in this post, I intend to focus on other equally important and meaningful gifts that you can gift a traveller in your life.

Accommodation

As a solo traveller, if there is one thing I pay extra attention to and spend more money on is accommodation because it can make or break a trip. Whenever I am planning a trip, whether it be abroad or within the UK I take my time researching accommodations and for 2024 staycations, I love the look of *Scottish resorts like Wyndham Trenython Manor. I have reached a stage in my travel life that requires any accommodation I consider having at least a wellness centre and/or a gym.

If you are thinking of the perfect Christmas gifts for travellers, then may I suggest you think about helping the traveller with either accommodation or costs towards accommodation. You can purchase a gift card that can be used towards accommodation which is something I have given in the past and have loved receiving myself.

Travel Vouchers

Just like gifting gift cards towards accommodation, you can also get travel vouchers that can either be applied to a flight or maybe an adventure. Over the last 4 years, I have seen a rise in people gifting others travel vouchers that can be applied to pretty much anything travel-related whether accommodation or flights. If you know a preferred airline that the traveller in your life loves to use, check if that airline has travel vouchers that you can purchase.

Travel Equipment

If there is something that I have found very helpful in terms of gifts I have received in the past, is receiving travel equipment that I need for a trip. If you have skiers in your life, you might want to gift them skis or even skiing glovers as it’s something that they will need. You can gift luggage, this is something I have been fortunate to receive many a time from friends and family and to this day I am still using most of the travel bags I was gifted.
