Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

The Ultimate Alcohol-Free Girls’ Weekend in the UK

Getting the whole gang free for a weekend is a rare treat so why not make it count and ensure you actually remember every month? Whether you’re cutting back this year or skipping booze entirely, there are endless ways to have fun, unwind, and reconnect without relying on that old familiar buzz.

Getting the whole gang free for a weekend is a rare treat so why not make it count and ensure you actually remember every month? Whether you're cutting back this year or skipping booze entirely, there are endless ways to have fun, unwind, and reconnect without relying on that old familiar buzz.

*Disclosure – this is a collaborative post.

Scenic Hikes in the Lake District or Peak District

Ditch the prosecco and soak up some fresh air instead. The Lake District and Peak District offer the perfect backdrop for a low-key weekend of hiking, heart-to-hearts, and mindfulness.

Spend the day exploring panoramic trails (think Catbells or Mam Tor) then settle into a quiet picnic spot with homemade treats and a thermos of herbal tea. These settings are ideal for journaling, sketching, or even a bit of impromptu painting. The mix of movement and nature makes it easy to unplug and actually talk to each other without any distractions.

Cycling Adventure in the Cotswolds

For something active with a scenic twist, hop on bikes and explore the rolling hills and charming market towns of the Cotswolds. Pedal past honey-stone cottages and through peaceful lanes, with plenty of stops for tea, cake, and village shops.

You can explore the area’s rustic beauty and artisan charm at your own pace with cycling holidays in the UK, where the focus is more on connection and countryside than bar hopping. Think picnic baskets, photo stops, and local farm shops with not a single dry mouth and hangover in sight.

Spa & Wellness Retreat in Somerset or Yorkshire

Swap late nights for late checkouts and deep tissue massages. A wellness weekend at a spa hotel in Somersetor Yorkshire can be exactly what you all need to decompress and reconnect.

Choose a retreat that offers yoga sessions, thermal pools, and holistic treatments. You’ll leave feeling recharged without the lingering sense of shame and anxiety that often follows a boozy girl’s weekend. These getaways combine luxury with wellbeing, making them perfect for quality time.

Creative Workshops in Brighton or Bristol

Get your hands dirty (in the best way) with a creative session that everyone can enjoy. From pottery and candle-making to floristry and “paint & sip” (with tea or coffee rather than gin and tonics, of course) Brightonand Bristol are bursting with inspiring workshops.

These activities are great for bonding and make memorable souvenirs to take home. Many studios serve herbal teas, homemade cake, or mocktail alternatives to keep the vibe relaxed but still celebratory.

Coastal Fun in Cornwall

Prefer saltwater over sangria? Head to Cornwall for a seaside weekend full of adventure and calm. Try surfing or paddleboarding in Newquay, or enjoy a scenic walk along the South West Coast Path with unbeatable ocean views.

After a day on the waves, settle in for a fresh seafood dinner and sip a mocktail while the sun goes down. It’s the perfect blend of chill and thrill and you certainly won’t need any Dutch courage to enjoy it.
