Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Tracking and Reviewing The 2019 Goals

With only 3 months left of the year, its time to start thinking about tracking and reviewing the 2019 goals that you set for yourself and maybe your business too. As blogging is my side hustle/small business, I obviously set a few goals that I am yet to share with the general public. But for those goals that I set and shared at the beginning of the year, it is time to track and review the progress that I have made so far.

At the beginning of every month, I take a moment to think about the goals that I set at the start of the year and any new goals that I want to add. Whenever I am tracking and reviewing 2019 goals I always think about the reasons why I set those targets and things that I can do better to achieve those goals.

Tracking and Reviewing 2019 Goals

At the beginning of the year, I shared simple tips on how you can set achievable goals because we all know that come the new year, we all write goals that before the end of January we throw to the waste side. I thought it prudent to share simple tips on how I set achievable goals and how I actually achieve my goals. Depending on your set timelines, you can either defer goals that you didn’t quite manage to complete or re-strategise.

I am a great believer in setting achievable goals but I also know that life often gets in the way and there are goals that you’re forced to rethink. This is why I encourage everyone to take time periodically to review your goals in case something has changed or needs to be re-done.

Tracking Your Goals

The best thing you can do when you set goals is to track them regularly, not only does it give you an up-to-date status, it gives you an opportunity to revision your goals. At the beginning of the year, I set 13 goals it’s now time to start tracking and reviewing the 2019 goals and ascertain the progress that I have made.

All the goals that I set, I track them on a monthly basis, whether it is travel goals or business goals, every month I have the opportunity to re-align my goals. I always think about the bigger picture, if I started out well then dwindled, its time to re-strategise and re-direction the goals. Depending on how often you want to keep an eye on your goals, make sure to set adequate time on the side for reviewing your goals.

Reviewing the 2019 Yearly Goals

  1. Earn £500 a month on this blog – on track
  2. Save 50% of the monthly earnings from this blog – failed
  3. Run every day for 20 minutes – upgrade to attending the gym 3/4 times a week
  4. Stretch every morning before work for 15 minutes – same as above
  5. Continue to attend yoga classes every other day weekly – same as above
  6. Travel once a month within the UK – on track
  7. Travel abroad at least once every quarter – changed to monthly and on track
  8. Drink 8 ounces of water daily – on track
  9. Stop drinking fizzy drinks completely – success
  10. Create a weekly meal plan – failed
  11. Continue to declutter every 6-weeks – on track
  12. Do a social media detox weekly – changed to once a month
  13. Plan and follow a monthly budget – on track

The most beautiful thing about tracking and reviewing the 2019 goals is that I am able to see where I am succeeding and where I need to re-strategise. During the first half of the year, I was doing well saving 50% of my blog savings but life got in the way, as part of my restrategizing, instead of using the same account for blogging and general bills, I am opening a new account where all savings will be going.

For goals where I have highlighted as failed, this is me being honest with myself. I did a meal plan once maybe twice this year and in the grand scheme of things it’s not the end of the world, I just have to find what works for me. I have noticed that meal boxes are much easier for me to meal plan from that doing my own thing. This is something that I want to look into further and probably adopt my goal to align with this new strategy.

Don’t worry if you’ve not completed your goals in the time that you specified, the best thing to do is to not give up, spend time re-aligning your goals and better yet, re-strategise.

Reviewing goals is very important. It allows us to see areas of work and successes. As well to define new goals to help us along the way

I love that you reviewed your old goals. Often times we make new year resolutions and don’t stick to them. I’m so happy you got to see how far you’ve come. Keep up the good work, this blog is amazing.

I think it’s so great you track your goals. I feel many people set goals without ever coming round to evaluating them. Sounds like you did really well!

We do something very similar every year, but as a family. Then at the end of the year we see how many of our goals we were able to accomplish.
